My claim to concert fame is I saw MCR open on a 4 band bill for Taking Back Sunday, Recover and From Autumn to Ashes. They were touring Bullets, and I think they played one “new” one that ended up being “It’s Not a Fashion Statement, It’s a Fucking Deathwish”. We got there early because we were huge fans of Bullets, with maybe 20 other people. Even more badass in hindsight.

edit: double awesome because it was the OG TBS lineup right before they broke up, touring TAYF.

Saw them open for The Used and TBS right before Three Cheers came out. Wild how things have changed since then haha.

I probably have posted this before, but when they played Warped Tour in 2005, I met them all and had them sign the Three Cheers CD booklet. Usually when bands would sign a booklet, they just sign the cover and write their names. These kind lads opened the whole thing and personalized each message to me (they forgot the "i r the," but I will let it slide)

My first MCR show was The Black Parade World tour in NH (first show of the tour!) and I loved it. Rise Against was very good, too. The only other time I saw them was Projekt Revolution in MA that same year, also a ton of fun

production is fine, I just wish the vocals were louder in the mix.

I was honestly hoping the production on their new stuff would be like Gerard and Ray's Hazy Shade of Winter cover - thought it sounded fantastic. But this has really grown on me and I've already played it a bazillion times

my completely uninformed prediction: this is essentially the hype single for their next album cycle. I am guessing that we get a single that will be serviced to radio, get music video and promotion in a month or so. There's a precarious break in their touring for almost two months in late summer, so my guess is that will be album release zone.

I’d be surprised if they don’t release another album. They got a whole team together and credited to release this song. It was recorded in LA, apparently. I wouldn’t travel to LA to just record a new a single song haha. Unless it was a means to rehearse and see if we still had it.

If there is a new album, I’d also be surprised if they decided to dive right back in where they left off and go the major label route. They seemed over it. Plus, these guys clearly have the foundation to do whatever they want and however they want to do it. This new song definitely shows that. They’re landing major shows and doing things on their own timeline. It’s hard for me to see them go any other route. Then again, I could be way wrong about everything and they could still be on contract somewhere. Idk haha.

Stopped listening to these guys after The Black Parade (and honestly wasn't a big fan of their older albums pre-Black Parade) but this new song is awesome!

  16. Oh okay the mask indicates this was recorded post-2019 then

  17. Yeah and the fact that this is pretty fresh and hasn’t been on the shelf for three years actually hypes me up even more

  18. I can't get the chorus out of my head. It's so huge and anthemic in an uniquely MCR way. As an aside, I don't know anything about drumming terminology but I love how the snare gets hit twice every time. It adds an unconventional touch to the drum beat.

My guess is that we’ll be getting an Atmos mix on Apple Music once a full album is announced.

Since we're sharing some memories/tour experiences, MCR is one of only two bands I've had cancel on me twice (the other being Blink-182.)

I had tickets to see them in Portland, ME on the Black Parade tour in 2007 with Muse opening. They got food poisoning and cancelled, but promised to make it up to us. They scheduled an entirely different show on another leg of the tour in the fall of that same year at UMaine in Orono, and cancelled about a week out due to some other commitment getting in the way. I was devastated both times. Didn't wind up seeing them again until Honda Civic Tour 2011.

Thankfully, I did see them on the Three Cheers tours a few times. One of which was opening for Green Day. They were the only opener, and they played a whopping 16 songs.
