What if the special guest is MCR, but they aren't announced until the show officially starts?

People still think MCR has anything to do with this Roxy show?? Y’all crazy. You don’t have a show called “Return” and cause an internet shit storm with it only to show up as an *opening act* the night before for a much smaller band and make that your first show back after 7 years...

 

I mean, Thursday played a small “secret show” the night before their *return* show at Wrecking Ball a couple of years ago..given, they did headline said show, but I don’t think it’d be that weird for MCR to want a smaller warm up show before the big one..

 

I think it’d be a little disingenuous if they did play a show before a show in which they publicized as their return and sold tickets at the price of $150.

Many people may have justified paying that $150 *because* it was their first show in 7 years.

This. It’s a big deal going to this first show back. If I found out they actually ended up playing a short little set the night before, honestly, I’d be a little pissed.

I'm disappointed there are no good live recordings of I Never Told You What I Did For A Living out there. Probably my favorite song on Three Cheers along with Ghost of You

The bands I have heard rumours as supports for their UK tour are largely awful.

Palaye royale, Waterparks, As It Is, Creeper, Senses Fail.

I like the last two but if that was the lineup I would pretty disappointed in their picks.

 

Honestly wouldn’t care who opens, it’s MCR

 

Yeah they had bad supports when I've seen them before. It would be ace to get a great band like Thursday or JEW though.

 

Just show up late if you don’t care for the openers

 

Then you get a shit space.

 

It's more about who they choose to put in front of such a massive audience. I don't think bands like Palaye Royale or Waterparks really deserve the platform, and I find both of those bands unbearable.

Luckily none of my friends like them so we'll just do our own thing during those sets.

 

I’m just at the point in my life where I hate being in the thick of the crowd and dealing with the shoving/moshing/surfing. Would much rather watch the show from the middle/back/sides. My enjoyment of those shows has not waned since.

I also value my time much more now that I don’t spend it at shows sitting through openers I don’t like. Just gonna show up in time for who I want to see instead of sitting in traffic and waiting through sets I don’t care to see.

 

I have only ever seen MCR from seats and would like to keep it that way
