I actually love the mix and the song, but that's coming from someone who hasn't listened to the band since The Black Parade. It just feels really organic and moody, which would be lost with super glossy production.

Not a fan of the mix at ALL. Still, it's a good song. But i'm boujee like that. I like the glossy production. I want it crisp and clean. Like the first sip of a Sprite.

    I got high this morning.

The mix makes this song feel like it would fit in perfectly on "I Brought You My Bullets..." and, after digging into the lyrics, I think that's exactly what they were going for. It's a new beginning. Going back to what made them start the band in the first place. I'm here for it.

Especially since the song directly refers to 9/11, which is pretty much the reason why the band came to exist.

I like this song a lot. The mix felt a little muddy to my ears as well in certain spots. That doesn't mean the mix is bad by professional standards. I just personally don't necessarily love it at times.

That said, the song is awesome and I am absolutely here for it.

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

    Jason’s not ~wrong~, but he’s not right.

When you look at both bodies of work, they’re completely different as a whole. One has made a living with the punk/garage rock sound and the other has been making MOSTLY big, clean, and pretty records for twenty five years.

it’s weird to compare the two because I don’t think either would approach a project with the same end goals, or results obviously.

    i dig the song.

Not a fan of the mix in the same way I wasn't a fan of Gerard's solo mix or Bleachers most recent album mix. Sounding like you're playing in a bathroom down the hall isn't my thing.

I heard this on SiriusXM without knowing it’s a new song and thought it sounded like an unreleased demo.

I’m not nearly as bothered by the mix as others. Pretty cool song coming from someone who hasn’t been a fan since “three cheers”

    Give what you can.

As a guy with one working ear and constant tinnitus, I feel uniquely qualified to not have an opinion on production style ever. Cool song though glad they’re back.

Surprised by how much I enjoyed this track. It's really solid. An epic, 6 minute, banger is a great way to show up after being away for so long. I'll listen again, but I'm fine with the mix. Yeah, it's not completely crisp, but as lots of people have said i think it's a choice. I'm getting some Muse vibes towards the second half and i think if it was extremely polished, it would sound off-putting because then it would really sound like Muse to me and I don't think that really fits with what they're trying to do hear.

Anyone else getting “Things We Think We’re Missing” vibes from the mix?

My initial thoughts weren't how it was mixed, but that as a stand alone track it doesn't do a lot for me overall. However, I'm assuming this is a random piece in the middle of something great, & I can't wait to hear how it sounds as a whole

Nice song, I had no doubt they were gonna put something new out and I'm super glad it exists but its not doing much for me. I have an issue with people saying "like ass" it just seems like a full-groaner move:sly:

So I was trying to figure out why the guitar sounded so familiar before Gerard starts singing the beginning of the song. It sounds exactly like the music in the background right after Goose dies in the original Top Gun, totally blew my mind…
