Only made it halfway through the opening track. Fuck this band, lol. Amazing musicians with nothing important to say.

Really enjoying this one. Seems like people are really liking or hating it. I definitely see the American Idiot comparison. Lyrics could seem very political.

I really like it though. First one of theirs I've really dug in years!

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

First in years to be good isn’t saying much unfortunately lol

I’ll probably give it a listen but expectations are low. The Resistance is the last time I’ve enjoyed something by them as an album

so many good albums out today, you won't catch me listening to Muse wax lyrical about vaccine shit in the year of our lord 2022.

Was it ever confirmed that anything was legit anti-vax?

From the singles, my take was they're just doing their usual lyrics and they just got interpreted a certain way because of the political climate.

    I'm curious to know.

yeah pretty sure it’s the same vague “rise up against authority” shit they’ve been doing forever, but the timing is bad lol

Oh, absolutely. It's made worse by the fact they haven't made a statement. Probably because I'm sure they're aware of the uncertainty and don't want to risk dividing their fanbase.

There are some things for me here. I am not really a lyrics person so it doesn’t totally grind my gears but there is definitely some painful stuff here. My problem with Matt these days is not necessarily the lyrics but rather the fact that he kind of over sings a lot of the words with “ok” melodies… I get he’s good at that but it isn’t needed for every single word uttered.

Verona is tickling my U2 sensibilities and I’m here for it. Halloween and Fucked (lol) also make me laugh in a good way — Dom is killing the drums on this album.

Kill or be killed is the best song on here. I also like won’t stand down, halloween and fucked but the rest are okay to not great upon first listen. I’m a little let down cause I usually always like their albums and I’m pretty sure this is their shortest (38 mins) with less highs and more lows.

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

Muse’s degradation has been a wild thing to witness but parts of WotP are flat out laughable. Something I never thought with any of their past records.

I haven't listened to this new album yet, but I still really enjoy Muse and I thought their last album was full of great cuts.

I dunno, I shouldn't interrupt the shitting party, but I thought it would be nice if one person said something positive. Might as well be me.

Unless this new album is wildly different from their previous output, I feel pretty comfortable I'll find things to enjoy on it as well.

  17. I thought this was the most enjoyable listen I've had of a Muse album in a long time, but I'm still not interested in revisiting it outside of that one nu prog song that caught me off guard in the middle.

This is easily their best since Black Holes and Revelations. I’m surprised people don’t seem to care for it on here. The only song I wasn’t really immediately into was Verona. We are Fucking Fucked is what I’ve wanted them to do since BH&R.

I honestly think people have issues with it lyrically. The lyrics come off as not fitting into the narrative of what has been preached for the past two years. Now I have no idea if that is what these songs are all about.

That’s just my guess why some people are having issues with this album. Especially since it’s been mentioned several times in this thread how irresponsible the lyrics sound.

I completely agree with this being their best since Black Holes.

I’m on your boat when it comes to liking Muse’s recent things. I listened to the album already - you’ll definitely find things you enjoy. Though, I do think it’s their weakest album in a while.

As bad as new Muse is…I’d go to this if they had an MA date. Evanescence!
