Based on the Disney classic. Niki Caro directing. Said to have a $100 million budget. No release date as of yet.

Set to star Liu Hefei, best known for her role in Ip Man 3 and The Forbidden Kingdom.

I'm sold. Mulan has always been one of my top 3 Disney films. Rumor has it (or maybe it was reported) that there will not be singing in this film.

I’m okay with this. Mushu is a phoenix and the songs will be instrumental pieces.

YES that exactly what I wanted. No singing. Hope the Phoenix isnt anthropomorphized either.

This movie is shaping up exactly how I want. "The sets will be “massive” and of “an unprecedented scale,” the site reports, adding those sets are in the design stage and would require ample time to be constructed. The sets will be built by the same crew that forged the Asgard sets seen in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, the Chris Hemsworth-led hit blockbuster that cost the Disney-owned production arm a relatively inexpensive $180 million."

Considering this takes place around a war and its budget is reportedly around 290 million (WTF), Im kind of hoping this is more of a PG-13 epic than a 4 quadrant straight-up adaptation like most of them have been. Im really hoping Disney pushes this more like an Oscar movie more than anything.

 

Should be getting trailer soon. Some are saying during the World Cup tomorrow maybe? Either way, it'll likely be soon so it can play in front of Lion King, I'm guessing.
