I like this theory. Also explains how Darlene was able to essentially maintain leadership of fsociety

Those three days Elliot can't remember? Him and Tyrell. Kissing on the mouth.

But yeah, it's probably the leadership thing. Tyrell seemed to buy into Fsociety pretty hard (and quickly). I doubt he has many friends outside of Joanna. He clearly has issues with his father. Makes sense (I think?)

But there’s something afoot in all these oblique symbols and warnings, and the show is playing coy. That’s not a good thing, at this point. The season left viewers hanging in a way that I’m sure the producers thought would be eagerly anticipatory, but instead feels a bit like tap-dancing, distractions meant to elongate a story that is ready for a solid leap forward. Comparisons to season two of Lost aren’t out of the question.

A single gunshot ends Mr. Robot’s puzzling second season

    Agreed.

I really think they'll recover in season 3... but yeah pretty disappointing season overall.

I've loved all of the av club reviews (this one included) but I disagree with him this week. I didn't really feel like the show was stringing me along. I don't understand how people felt that way; I guess I'm just not seeing what they're seeing. I feel like a lot of questions were answered in the finale, even if they then asked more. the beginning of this season was definitely slow, but I enjoyed it despite that.

My biggest problem with the finale is that a lot of stuff was revealed but not a lot actually happened. Made the season feel anti-climactic.

My biggest problem with this season is by far the prison arc with Elliot. It served no purpose for the plot and absolutely derailed the pacing of the season. If it was shortened to only two episodes, the rest of the season would have accelerated so smoothly.

I didn't mind the prison arc too much. I felt that it allowed Darlene to take a leadership role in fsociety, since Elliot was gone, which led to that Darlene and Dom moment in the finale

I'm sure we'll get the answer to that at some point next season. Elliot is in full Robot mode when he grabs the gun, so it wouldn't surprise me if he fired off the gun for dramatic effect when giving it to Tyrell.

Sam did an interview after the finale discussing Elliot/Tyrell and where they're heading next season.

I really don't understand all of the hate this season received. It was slow at times, but I think a lot of that was necessary to build where they're headed. The acting, cinematography, and attention to detail were fantastic all season. This show is a huge slow burn. There are a lot more questions than answers, but we're only about halfway through the overall story (Sam said previously that this is a 4-5 season show). Things will be answered down the line and in the big picture it will all pay off.

I'd agree it's a little long but Ray was such a fantastic character so I didn't mind too much. I also enjoyed the prison arc because I can think it brought us back to reality by showing him getting arrested for stealing the dog and hacking krista's ex.

  14. I took Mr Robot flickering as more evidence that Tyrell was real.

The part that left me confused was Dom's elaborate web of all the people involved in 5-9. How did they get all that information yet seem so confused with no leads in all of their conversations?

i really really try not to over analyze this stuff. I was always so excited for a new episode every week...and in the end...isn't that all we want? Yes maybe around episode 4 I was starting to hate the mind games, and looking back, we wasted too much time with him in prison, but I mean that's what happens with TV, filler is just part of the deal.

I don't have an issue with having questions after a finale. It just makes me pissed I have to wait so long! WHICH is a good thing...it means I care!

So did he bust the Warden for that site?

  25. devenstonow

    Noobie

    Yes.

A popular theory I read is that the warden knew exactly what Elliot was going to do, but because the site was pretty much led/created by his wife prior to her death, he can't bring himself to take it down because it's the only thing he has left of her. He had know idea what was on it prior to Elliot, but assumed it was bad things, and even knowing about the terrible things, he can't bring it down
