oh god... I remember seeing ads for this when I was a kid but I just watched the trailer and it is bad

 

Song to Song and Malick in general are great and 100% do not belong in this thread.

 

It feels like a lot of the ambivalence toward recent Malick comes from how quickly he has been releasing them compared to his history. It becomes less of an event and thus people take the films less seriously. If To The Wonder came out today and it was his first film since The Tree of Life it would be hailed as a masterpiece.

 

This popped up on some app somewhere and I thought, “holy shit Jake and Reynolds together? Awesome!” And then I remembered that I have in fact seen this and I was very disappointed by it, so I feel it fits here. If I recall it really really really tried to be Alien 2.0 most of the time.

you were! You were the main star, I believe. Meanwhile I think Ryan was only in this for like 20 minutes which pissed me off. False advertising!

 

I thought Life was solid and did in fact exist!

I do appreciate a good use of Let’s Potato Chips. Poor Aimee Teegarden, though. Coach Taylor’s daughter deserves better.

 

I think the most publicity this got was comic book nerds thinking it was a secret “Venom” movie.
