I finally ditched MP despite being its biggest defender. Jumped on AMC A-List and it's incredible how much easier/smoother/zero headache it is in comarison. It sucks that you're limited to only AMC theaters but if they're in your town, it's easily worth the $20/month.

 

MoviePass just announced 2 more movies they are releasing themselves, but mentioned that their own movies won't count against a users monthly movie count. Interesting strategy

 

I cancelled but now people are telling me it is working correctly and I am regretting it, haha. Is that true? Have things been a lot better this month??

 

Did they say what movies or when they'd be released?

 

Not really. They still limit your options significantly and remove showtimes of those limited options after a certain point. It's basically impossible to see a movie after 6pm without buying the ticket hours in advance.

 

They don’t ask for ticket verification anymore, so if I want to see something that’s not listed I just check into whatever and buy the actual ticket I want.

 

Monsters and Men is the first one, select theaters this week with a national expansion next week.

The other one was called Border and comes out later this year

 

Sinemia customer service is impossible to reach, I sent them and email and messaged them on fb/Instagram and no real response to my complaint

 

Yea the selected movies on certain days killed this for the most part for me so I’m sure this is working for them. I cancelled and then revoked my cancellation just in case it improves when my plan is over in Dec and want to resubscribe. God I hope Cinemark gets a better subscription service before then.

 

glad I switched to A List, having to stick to AMC hasn't been too much of a pain and being able to use it online/on the AMC or Atom app is so nice

So many movies I wanna see in October and no idea how I’m gonna afford them all. Mid90s/ First Man/Beautiful Boy/Venom/A Star is Born/Nutcracker/Overlord being the Main ones.

 

Yeah I’m definitely going to be taking advantage of their discount once I run out of the 3 movies this month.

 

I figure if I really want to see a movie I can use their discount on discount Tuesday and still see a movie for about $3-4 bucks.

i haven't cancelled yet. the only thing that sucks for me right now is the 3 movies a month thing. after i see 3 movies, it feels like foreverrrrrr until the cycle restarts. other than that though, i'm fine with MP for now. i'm hoping it gets continuously better/more relaxed as more competition emerges.

 

I'm thankful my annual plan goes till mid November. Gotta take advantage and see as many movies as I can since I'm still on the one a day plan.

 

I would like to but this movie schedule shit makes that hard.

 

How many total movies have you seen? My annual plan turning its back on me is the reason I quit.

For context: 35 movies in five months

 

I've only seen 30 in about 10 months. Still definitely got my money's worth. Gonna try and up my total a lot in the next 2 months that I have left though.

 

I hadn’t used moviepass in almost 2 months, my schedule didn’t really allow it and with everything going on I just put it on the back burner.

I went today to see A Simple Favor (full disclosure that was not an option for me but it was no longer doing ticket verification so). There are a couple others I want to see (searching, crazy rich Asians to name a few). Also I had to complain about something so I got a pair of passes so I can watch 4 movies this month which is nice (even tho realistically I probably won’t even have time for that many lol)

 

Searching was fantastic!

 

That's what I've been saying, y'all. Everyone in here better go watch that and Crazy Rich Asians. (And I guess A Simple Favor? I'm not really interested, but Henry Golding's in that, too.)

 

A Simple Favor is a whole lot of fun. I recommend it.

I'd also recommend Assassination Nation. It's probably a pretty polarizing film, but it's definitely interesting/entertaining. It goes off the rails a little in the third act, but if you have MP or A-List or whatever and need something to watch, I think it's worth your time.
