I totally understand those that don't like IATM, especially since in @FTank and @Craig Manning case I know y'all aren't big into post-hardcore and punk. For me I love it but I also love stuff like Thursday and Fugazi which were a big influence on that album so if you aren't big into the rawer more aggressive sound I can see how it wouldn't appeal. MDL made that sound much more digestible and appealing by mixing it with some EIIKM. The IATM acoustic show was stunning I can't believe how well those songs translated live. Turns out Justin is a killer bass player as well since Jesse and Matt would both play keys on certain songs.

    Commit This To Memory

I can't believe it's been almost two years since I wrote this. I can't believe how much happier I am now. I can't believe how much this band means to me. I can't believe the band actually saw this and tweeted about it and also mentioned me BY NAME at the CTTM10 show I went to and then Justin said "mr coffeeeyes if you're out there this ones for you it's called Hangman" and I was screaming "that was me thank you I love you guys!!!" Lol.

  3. My Favorite Accident is a top 5 song. Also: AOK, Mary Without Sound, Autographs & Apologies, Indoor Living...oooh baby

The lyrics on IATM are so good. I can relate to so many lyrics on those first three albums.

    Ah, fuck it.

The moment I completely fell in love lol. Idk why but it just got to me. Really funny but also totally relatable. I still remember the first time I heard "The Future Freaks Me Out" and being so blown away.

I think the first song that really blew me away was Hold Me Down. I'd only heard MDL at that point and I really liked it but I didn't quite get the immense love I saw on AP for the band, then someone posted the video for Hold Me Down in some random thread and it was instant.

First time I heard MCS was the first time they blew me away. Sitting in my high school's foyer, my friend comes up and just puts his headphones on my ears and tells me to listen. Plays "Everything is Alright." I was hooked immediately.

Love how much conversation has been going on in this thread recently, I've been following along. This band rules.

I misclicked on YouTube and it brought me to the Future music video. I think I had just discovered stuff like GAD and FOB and YouTube had that music video in my recommended thing and I accidentally clicked and was blown away. Then I listened to Everything Is Alright and I was hooked.

When I finally sat down to Commit This To Memory after all the buzz I'd heard about them (my buddy saw them open for...Coheed maybe?), the moment it transitioned from "Feel Like Rain" into "Make Out Kids" I was hooked for life.

I joined on right when EIIKM had just dropped too. I remember hearing such bad things about it but once I sat down and listened to it I was in love. Same thing with Go. I wish they'd pushed those sounds out even further, I don't think PS or MDL are a "regression" or anything MDL has some EIIKM in it and PS has some Go influence i just wish the band had kept going further with those sounds especially with Go. Justin had said that MDL was what they wanted to do and wasn't influenced by the EIIKM reactions they just wanted to go into a more aggressive rock direction, but PS definitely feels like a "we're sorry about Go here's a throwback" album. Not necessarily a bad thing i quite love PS I just wonder what could've been if they'd kept going in that indie rock/acoustic rock direction.

The one interview I've listened to he talks about how the label didn't want any keyboards on MDL

I think I got into them from seeing Everything is Alright on MTV2 or something

Never could get very into IATM

Yeah I remember hearing about that. They wanted to play it down and have more guitars. Jesse has a reduced role for sure as far as synth goes but I know he added extra guitars to certain songs so he was still a big contributor. I think it also had to do with the band wanting to go in more of a hard rock route but I'm not sure.

The first song I fell in love with was Fell In Love Without You. I had heard about LG Fuad and Everything Is Alright from my sisters boyfriend at the time but I didn't really listen, so I gave EEIKM a chance and I loved that first song, but then I didn't care for the rest of the album (hahahaha) then I don't know how much later it was but obviously I gave it another chance and then started working back. I'd guess this started in 2008 and then by 2009 I was all in.

I love I Am the Movie. I don't know if I realized it had those more post hardcore influences but it makes a ton of sense now that I think about it.

The first time I heard MCS was when I had my itunes on shuffle and Disappear played. I still have no idea how that song made it onto my computer but I fell in love with that song and immediately downloaded MDL and over that summer made my way through all their albums going backwards and now here I am 5 years later and their my favorite band.

I saw the video for Everything Is Alright on Fuse, but didn't get an album until AltPress gave MDL a 5 star review.

One of my best friends from high school bought EIIKM on a choir trip and proceeded to play it in his car for the rest of the fall. I heard that record a lot just cruising around town after school. Still really remember that time fondly.

I discovered MCS via punknews.org. One of their writers had praise for their indie release I Am The Movie. Gave it a listen and it was something energetic and different. Eventually they got picked by Epitaph a re-released a tweaked version of I Am The Movie. Listening ever since.

Interested in hearing what music is to come from the guys post MCS and see if they ever return.

I'm super excited to hear Justin's solo stuff. He's talked about his songs being more like Modern Chemistry or Last Night in terms of being more like a string of verses instead of chorus focused which is my favourite kind of MCS song, ha.

He's said he wants to get it out this year and he was doing some recording a while back. Not sure if he finished or not or what the current plans are though. I'm hoping we'll get it this year.

That's great until it's an entire full-length record without a chorus.

I'm sure there'll be a few in there. I can't even think of an album off the top of my head that doesn't have any, ha.
