Hammering away at a metaphor doesn't like Aronofsky at all.

I was hoping to go into this completely blind but they showed a trailer before It. I loved how WINK WINK the trailer was though so I'm still excited.

I feel like this came up quick! I can't believe this is Friday!

  6. Got tickets for tomorrow night. Can't wait for everyone in my theater to hate this and for me to (probably) love it haha. Similar reactions happened when I went to see The Witch and It Comes At Night.

  9. A cinematic portrait of human indecency. Part of me admires the audacity of it all, and part of me thinks it's ridiculous. Aronofsky at possibly his most unhinged and self-indulgent. I think I'm leaning more towards liking it, but I definitely see why people are hating it. My friend found it mostly unbearable.

The whole time I was watching this, I was thinking "General audiences are going to hate this". And then the baby scene happened and I thought "General audiences are really going to hate this"

I understand why they marketed this as a home invasion horror movie cuz it's pretty much unmarketable, but everyone in my theater was pissed

Really enjoyed. A bit heavy-handed especially as it went on/towards the end, but appreciate and can't get mad at the message.

The way it was filmed and the sound design were incredible, though -- felt like being inside my own nightmare. Loved Pheiffer as well.

Felt that was kind of necessary with the overall picture and what I imagine he was getting at.

girlfriend knew I was excited to see this and suggested we smuggle a bottle of wine in and hit it after work, will report back

People that saw it: were there large crowds? I'm going to a cinema that is generally deserted but curious if the ad spots picked up mainstream attention or not

  16. I saw a 9:55pm showing last night. Pretty meagerly sized audience.

Mine was in one of the smaller rooms, but I'd say it was 90% full.

Thoroughly hated this and I wanted to like it. Mostly boring (and irritating) and then just a clusterfuck of absurdity. I like over the top weird shit for the most part, but this didn't work for me.

I was enthralled from the first minute. I still don't know exactly what to say or what to think, but I fucking loved it

I pretty much agree with this besides the abject garbage part. Somehow turned out kinda okay. Wouldn't say good, but okay.

My lady and I were very conflicted on this when we saw it tonight, I really liked it and she thought it wasn't great. He really loves hitting you over the head with this metaphors though. Quotes on the way out include "That's the last time I pick the movie!" and "That's the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen" which is about what I expected.

This is now the 12th movie ever to receive an 'F' Cinemascore

I enjoyed the move but definitely understand why people would vehemently dislike it

I feel like I had a really weird crowd? For example, when Jennifer Lawrence wakes up and exclaims she's pregnant, the theater erupted with laughter. When she said you can't even fuck me or whatever the line was, there were a lot of "ooooh's" like a studio audience in a Jerry Springer episode. Every time it showed Javier Bardem waiting for the mother to hand over her child, the laughter grew increasingly louder. Anybody else share this experience? Am I weird for thinking it's weird? Haha

edit: oh but crowd aside, I hated this

I cracked up over the I'm pregnant line because it's ridiculous.
