    Post-credit scenes

    Scene 1
Toomes is taken from the MCU and arrives to the Mobius universe via the purple light from NWH and says “I hope the food is better in this place.”
    Scene 2
Toomes (suited up although he didn’t arrive to the universe with his suit so I guess he remade it?) meets Mobius in a random field and suggests they team up and hunt down Spider-Man (which won’t be Garfield or Maguire because apparently Morbius is its own universe?).

so they decided that only Toomes would randomly go to a different universe while not effect anyone else. Yea, okay.

and does he still know who Peter is? Did the spell work on him and send him there? Or did it send him there and somehow retain that memory? I guess he’d still know about Spider-Man, but Morbius doesn’t know who he is. Why would Morbius care to join up against him? Is it Tom Holland he refers to? Or is there a Spider-Man in that universe? This all sounds very stupid.

All I know is that the name "Spider-Man" is dropped, but nothing else in given as to which Spider-Man. This has thrown a wrench into some stuff. I'd bet on Holland appearing but will he will appear via another multiverse shift or will Sony say the Peter in the Mobius universe looks exactly like Holland?

Given the last minute changes, my guess is that Sony has switched things up and decided to keep Garfield and Maguire separate from Mobius for the moment. Good for Garfield, horrible for Keaton. Now he is stuck in a universe where only Leto will be his partner. That has to suck. Should have pulled a Hardy and just ripped him back out of the universe he was sent to (which should have happened anyway due to everyone else going back to their original universe).

If this bombs hard, hopefully they just move on from Morbius entirely and leave Leto far far in the past.

I mean, that sounds like convoluted nonsense, but no more stupid than No Way Home’s plot, lol. NWH just got away with it because it was a vehicle for super fun fan service, while this is… a bad Jared Leto film.

Just kill Morbius off screen when this flops and let Vulture hang out with Kraven and Venom. *shrug*

A team up of Keaton, Hardy, and Taylor-Johnson would be great.

I think the fact that this doesn’t really fit with what we saw in NWH does make it worse.

but yea. Kill Leto, I mean, Morbius off screen.

A shared multiverse between two corporations is just bound to get convoluted.

NWH was the first and this end credit stuff won’t be the last. Both sides have their own interests and it’s harder to look over it when they so evidently overlap with the multiverse plot thread.

I’m sure an in-universe Sony multiverse would be good, and Marvel’s own multiverse stuff with Loki (and possibly MOM) seem to be fine, but when it’s both Disney and Sony…headache.

We can’t say this doesn’t fit with NWH because NWH doesn’t really make sense if you think too long about it, lol.

As for the second part… Morbius can be off screen. But if Leto were [redacted] on camera, wouldn’t be the worst thing someone could see.

This movie contradicts Strange’s spell at the end of NWH. The spell sent back all of the villains because they forgot who Peter was so why would that send Toomes to another universe?
The writers for this film probably had no idea what Strange’s spell did in NWH and just thought “hey, let’s use that as an excuse even though we don’t know how or why it happens!”

I don’t think the writers of NWH knew what his spell did. That film was shooting before the story was finished, and it originally was supposed to come out after Multiverse of Madness. (And, Morbius was supposed to be before both NWH and Carnage.)

They clearly decided at a certain point, “eh, good enough; Spider-mania doesn’t need an airtight plot.” Which, fair enough! People had fun with that movie’s fan service, myself included, and now both studios can make whatever casting choices they want and hand wave it as “magic.”

Oh shit, this just hit me after reading your post.

So originally the order was supposed to be Morbius, Venom: LTBC, Dr. Strange, and NWH, right?

I'm presuming then that originally Morbius and Venom were going to lead into Dr. Strange, which would inform NWH? And then when the releases shifted and NWH was rewritten, Morbius and Venom lost that connective tissue that Strange would've provided, forcing more changes?

I mean, I don't know that we'll ever know the real truth of it, but I'd be real interested to know what the original plan was.

The writers of NWH clearly showed and understood the spell
    1) erased memory of Peter from everyone on Earth
    2) returned everyone back to their respective universe after forgetting who Peter was

There was nothing to contradict that until this after credits scene and the writers for Morbius clearly had to know about Strange using a spell for the purple breaking sky to be included in the Morbius after credit scene.
Sony clearly edited that in during post after NWH when it makes absolutely no sense to do so.

The original plan for Sony is that there was no plan.

Maybe the post credits is a meta commentary on Sony taking the character back.

"He forgot who the MCU Spidey is so he belongs to us now."
