I don’t know why, but I just have this sneaking suspicion Yoel runs through Adesanya. I have no idea why, I just can’t seem to shake the thought.

Very much looking forward to that fight.

Adesanya is fearless! Yoel is a monster but he’s underwhelmed lately, so it’d be easy to justify a bout with a lesser fighter. Excited for that fight.

 

Extremely shitty that Romero gets a title shot.

Should be a fun fight though, can't see Izzy knocking him out, but who knows.

 

I don’t think it’s shitty. Costa couldn’t fight, otherwise it’d be him fighting next. Having Romero as W in his current streak is big for Adesanya. He could sit and wait for Costa if he wanted to so there’s a lot of respect to be had for taking this fight. Romero is no joke.

Cannonier is probably next in line. Unfortunate him and Whittaker aren’t fighting next.

 

Romero's also lost his last two. Giving people title shots off losses is a terrible practice. Now we're going to get Aldo/Cejudo too.

Dana said in an interview this week the reason it was taking so long to confirm Izzy v Romero was because they wanted to be sure Costa wasn’t able to fight.

That made me feel better about the situation until the Aldo news. I remember thinking Aldo won that fight but I don’t think it was a title eliminator performance in a competitive division with multiple worthy contenders.

I look forward to that fight but this isn’t a trend I’m excited about.
