wrestling, Tom Brady, Disney World...i feel like i'm being microtargeted

 

Imagine being a fan of this music but one who grew up in Chicago during the Bulls domination of the NBA in the 90’s then talk to me about being targeted

 

I don’t know how to tell you this but it wasn’t a pizza and it wasn’t the flu

 

No surprises there. Between the fact that I listened a ton on vinyl and we also use Spotify in our cars I'm sure the true play count was much higher lol

 

#3 for me this year. what a record.

 

#1 for me basically since the first time I listened to it but happy to see it on anyone's lists!

Cannot remember the last time I went from never having even heard of an artist to instantly all-in on them as one of my favorites. And he fucking killed it live too. Excited to see what comes next for him.

 

I know you’re a MMJ fan like me and seeing MJ live this year made me feel like was watching MMJ at the time they were writing It Still Moves.

To be clear, I didn’t see MMJ until much later in their career so I’m assuming a lot but still

 

this will easily be in my top 5 this year.

 

Listened to this for the first time today and it's as good as everyone here is saying.

 

Yeah I get that for sure. A lot of his pre-Boat Songs recordings really remind me of early MMJ, both Tennessee Fire and the various outtakes/demos on the two comps

I only started seeing MMJ in the last 7-8 years or so. Growing up near Louisville I had the opportunity to many many times but sadly we kinda made fun of MMJ and their fans in high school. Was a straight up punk rock kid and thought they weren’t cool, plus it’s hard to overstate how popular they were in Louisville in the Z/Evil Urges era. What an idiot!

They only have two shows booked this year at the moment. Thinking about traveling for the one in Athens GA in March. Always wanted to visit & I have flight credits to burn.

Plus they’re playing with SG Goodman who is also great & hilarious.

 

My brother just saw MJ twice in the last week in NJ and Philly and it sounds like he’s gotten even hotter live and is playing a lot of new stuff. Do it. This dude ain’t gonna be playing tiny clubs forever

Also I’d imagine that he will have a new record and tour once this Wednesday cycle winds down

 

My thoughts exactly. Plus, I’ve heard about the 40 watt club in Athens for years so the stars are aligning

 

The philly show was really great. Layering of the Boat Songs repertoire among the 7(!)-piece-band that night fucking ruled and the new tunes did too. Whichever new song referenced a wristwatch felt particularly electric. Was surprised to see Karly of Wednesday playing with that band

 

And yea the 40 watt is iconic. A must-visit for music/arts lovers. Athens GA applies in general tbh
