    Love the whole thing. I know they’re apparently not doing a full on tour for it, but I hope they have a handful of dates at least

    MGMT has had such an odd career. They've essentially always been this weird psych/prog band but their first record (and really the first SIDE of their first record) were these dance-y hooky indie pop jams that forever grouped with them the late 00's Williamsburg pseudo hippie/hipster movement. Their second and third record saw them get progressively weirder and less accessible yet...they still played huge venues with people who came to party to dance to 3 specific songs and then ignore the rest of the set. Little Dark Age seemed like a bit of a course correction and now this new one almost seems like their version of a Steely Dan record. I like their discography (their self titled is a little out there) but it's just wild they've had such a career with a large amount of insular material.
