lol as an American with season tickets to NFL games these prices are something I would kill for

that said, the European ticket prices are one of the things that makes the sport great and accessible for all fans and so this does suck

  2. Heard some people on the train complaining about Mbappe and calling him lazy. Then saying Barcola is better than him now. Is this just hysteria after a bad run of form? And is Barcola really that good? I never watch PSG so I don’t know him well.

Yeah, that’s the thing. The sport was historically the working class person’s game, but clubs are slowly chipping away at that. The fact it was accessible to all is what gave football an incredible atmosphere compared to something like the NFL, but I fear the owners are largely deciding that’s a sacrifice they are willing to make. I even saw that Valencia is trialling dynamic pricing with their tickets, which is a practice now being investigated in the UK and Europe.

It's been resolved, Todd Boehly will pay nothing up front but buy out the other shares over approximately 1 billion years

No issue with Ireland, but would love it if Rice or Grealish scored and did an Adebayor for a laugh.

Been very entertaining watching the FA put out a string of pro-Carsley puff pieces on the BBC over the last couple of weeks

Rice not celebrating was the funniest part like no one’s going to like you more because you didn’t celebrate.

Yeah, Jack did it better. I’d be kissing the badge, cupping my ears, holding the shirt up to the crowd, all that shite. Just a laugh ennit.

    It's all hell.

Just been to watch the mighty Dover Athletic (my local) win a Kent derby against Dartford 5-1 in the Isthmian premier division.

Initially baulked at paying £15 for a non-league game but it was really fun, and only a 30 minute walk from my house.

Deathly tap line up of fosters - john smiths - kronenbourg - strongbow which needs banishing though.

Saw a mini YT doc on Dover. Apparently they've had some very rough times as of late?

Ngl, I'd be happy with a Strongbow given the other three lol

    It's all hell.

I think I posted the doc in this thread a while back if it was the copa90 one? Essentially Dover were the only team to furlough their full staff instead of fulfilling the rest of the covid hit season's fixtures as they didn't want to take the financial hit of playing without a crowd. They were docked a load of points and forced to revoke their professional status.

The last few years have been super rough, only winning a couple of games over three years and being relegated twice in that time, completely out of the vanarama pyramid.

I think like a lot of teams at that level, they've struggled financially, but the team have also been truly awful in that time. I think relegation may have been a blessing though for them to a) actually win a game lol, and b) build back their finances. Today there was a crowd of 1,000 which they were not getting when they were losing every single week, and thats been fairly consistent this season which would have made them a lot of money so hopefully they can build back from here.

I did go for the Strongbow :crylaugh:

Yeah, that was it. Really interesting and reminded me of my hometown club. They had to move out of their 7k capacity stadium in 2010 as they couldn’t afford the maintenance, and now ground share with another local team at a tiny ground. The stadium has now been demolished and they’ve gone from tier five to tier seven. Depressing stuff, although they seem stable now.

My local team now is probably Birmingham City tbh. Haven’t forgiven them for the league cup final.
