Incredible sale. Atletico are making some interesting moves though. Le Normand, Gallagher, Sørloth, and Julian Alvarez.

Guess this means we will return with another bid this week sometime?

Don't you feel, though, that they'll be somewhat stunted by Simeone's tactics?

Thing is, Simeone has evolved a little.

Last season they played a lot of league games as all-out-attack, partially due to having no fit defenders (they had to play Axel Witsel as a CB), but it was an interesting change lol. They scored a lot of goals, but conceded a lot. They also really struggled away from home, with a near-perfect home and a midtable away record.

I think the issue in terms of perception, is that when they play big teams in the CL they revert to being defensive, but without the individual quality anymore. And this is obviously where most people see them, as opposed to them battering Almeria 7-0 or whatever.

I think if they get the right players, their original play style actually helps them cover the gap to the richer, more talented Real and Barca. Teams they absolutely have an inferiority complex to. But yeah, they’ll probably finish 2nd or 3rd lol. Real are miles clear.

Oh all the teams you guys have posted about during this transfer window, Athletico Madrid and Fulham have been the most exciting I think

Could be a shrewd move. Saw a tweet that showed he had the highest percentage of post recovery ball retention across the top 5 leagues last year. Obviously the recruitment team are confident he’d step in and shine if he came in.

Same age as Wijnaldum when he moved to Liverpool, a highly questionable transfer at the time and look how that turned out. Definitely felt like he had a career trajectory that unexpectedly plateaued after an admittedly odd transfer to Sheffield. Would be refreshing to bring in a guy who just needed the right situation to blossom and that leaves everyone else feeling foolish for not bringing in a guy who was just kind of right there waiting.

If I was a United fan, this would terrify me.

    Mbappe - Vinicius
    Bellingham
    Valverde - Camavinga
    Tchouameni
    Mendy - Militao - Rudiger - Carvajal
    Courtois

    Rodrygo - Endrick - Brahim
    Ceballos - Modric - Guler
    Garcia - Alaba - Vallejo - Vazquez
    Lunin

There's not much of a drop off there for Real Madrid, is there? Can see them trying to lock down another LB, CB, and GK before the window closes.

Those FdJ to United rumors that appeared yesterday in a bunch of Spanish rags suddenly looking a little more real.

I’ve only seen a couple of games, but this player looks brilliant, and his potential is massive. Quite the get. I’d go for him above Gallagher for sure.

  15. Excited to see him play but also slightly worried we’re rushing him. But we don’t really have a choice. If we don’t put him into the first team another club would swoop in.

Don’t see that happening now that Mainoo has broken through. We need another for the Casemiro role more than the Mainoo role

Started a new FM game, started with Clermont to try keep them up. Unbeaten in the opening 5 games of the season. 9 points. Might as well quit now it’s all downhill from here!

  20. Hervé Renard Has stepped down as coach of the French Women’s team. I’m hoping that means he’s heading to USMNT.

By contrast, I was on my fourth year at Atleti on mine (2031/32) and I was aiming to retain the CL. Got to the final absolutely smashing all who played against me, and was facing Arsenal. Thought, “well that’s a shame but you gotta do what you gotta do.”

I lost 5-0. And it should have been about eight. Almost resigned there and then, I was stunned lol.

Nothing worse! This is a pretty tough start to a top 5 save. Transfer budget of €1m and €0 wage budget. No one worth more than 3/4m from what I can see with shit youth structure. Team is filled with wingers but I’m not playing a tactic with wingers so they’re basically useless and just there to get angry because they won’t play. I’m expecting to be deep in the shit come January. Only 26 points off staying up after a dream start though.

This is my first proper FM 24 save, I’m not even 6 months at Clermont and Athletic offered me an interview for their job? That seems bizarrely early.

  25. Finally got this one done. Best defense in the league adding Ream.
