It’s a perfect combo of a big club that has a history of bleeding through young players, and the rise of Garnacho/Mainoo will certainly have made a big impact on his decision.Think he’s caught us at a good time in terms of giving minutes to youngsters. If we had a squad like Arsenal’s and were title challengers like them at the moment he may have very easily just gone on to join Dortmund like the rest of the kids. While I am a huge fan of both Garnacho and Mainoo and think they’ll be mainstays for years, our struggles contributed strongly to their ascent.

Seems like a slightly weird transfer but I’ll take it

This is a good deal. Excellent match for the player, and Atleti get a very good player with proven leadership qualities for a decent price.

A player owning a club BEFORE retirement has to be a first, right?

  6. Friendlies are hard to judge for many reasons, but Bergvall looks legit. Him and Gray could both be starter quality fairly early into the season. Makes me wonder why Ange wants another CM so bad.

If we don’t sell Skipp, we’ll have 7 players in the midfield - Maddison, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Gray, Bergvall, and Skipp. We also have a couple academy players fighting to prove they have a spot there in the near future.

It feels tough to manage minutes as is, adding another quality player will make things pretty crowded. And that’s not even including Kulusevki as a AM which we might see a lot of.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

imagine this will help ramp things up for Ugarte now too

I think we still need to sell one of Case, Eriksen, or McTominay to go for Ugarte

oh definitely, but I think negotiations can at least begin again and there could be room for loan+obligation talk

  10. Keep seeing that Fulham want McTominay. That’d be a fun landing spot for him.

they apparently are coming in with a 30 million bid, take the money and run

  12. Apparently, their initial bid earlier in the window was 17 million. Getting ESR I guess gave them the confidence to keep pushing. Could be a fun team.

That kinda mucks up pre season as he’s leading the training for the Euro/Copa players. Wonder who’s manager we’re going to get in to replace him.

I can’t wait to hear Steve McClaren drop a bomboclaat at his presser for the Jamaican national team. His entire career has been preparation for this moment.

Is coaching Jamaica really a better gig than United?

  22. This is the price Spurs wanted to pay for Gallagher. It sounds like Gallagher is unsure of the move. If we’re still interested in him, sure does seem like a good time to do something. We have the price tag now.

(I’m perfectly fine not doing it)

Would Chelsea even sell to Spurs?

Yeah it’s not like a release clause where Spurs would match and player gets to choose. The fact that Chelsea have a foreign club willing to pay his full valuation means it’s done and dusted unless Spurs come in with a bid much higher.

  25. Gallagher can refuse Madrid and force his way to another club if he preferred that. In that scenario, Chelsea’s other option would be watching him walk for nothing next year.
