Ukraine have been so disappointing. Pretty awful these opening 15 minutes.

Haven’t most of the Ukraine players had a suspended league for the last two years considering Russia?

Towards the end he suggests his dream USMNT manager would be Klopp. Had me thinking he'd be hilarious making complaints about trivial American things.

no, the 21/22 league was suspended and then canceled following the feb 2022 invasion, but once it was clear Kyiv wasn't going to fall and the battle lines were more or less stagnate (massive oversimplification but you get the idea), the 22/23 season started in August 2022 but with no team playing east of Kyiv.

four displaced teams shared the same stadium in Kyiv, another 4 displaced teams shared the same stadium in Uzhhorod (on the border with Slovakia, essentially). where teams have played has changed a bit with the season that just ended but again, it's all either in Kyiv or western Ukraine

i don't think anyone played in a city east of Kyiv (edit: looks like a team played last season in Poltava, another in Dnipro, both east of Kyiv. glad to see!)

but the league has been going essentially for the last two years outside of suspension from Feb 2022 to August 2022, entirely domestically

teams who get into Europe play their home matches abroad, I think usually in Poland or Germany. And home qualifying matches for Euros and World Cup have been played abroad for obvious reasons

worth noting that Shakhtar Donetsk has not played at home in Donetsk since 2014

Those plays are tough to judge. But he stopped a guy with a clear path to an empty net.

But then again, he did get kicked in the face. So I don’t know haha

 

What saves the keeper is that he was making a play on the ball. That he missed and impedes the attacker doesn’t then upgrade to a red

if the attacker had rounder the keeper and then the keeper makes a last ditch effort on the attacker, like staight up grabbing his leg or waist or something, then it’s not making an attempt on the ball and would be a red

is my non-ref, never having played understanding

They’ve gotten rid of the double jeopardy rule so it wouldn’t be red
