This has been a banger tournament so far. Wonder if the best 3rd places going through has made teams adjust mentality

I need to know what exactly Pepe does to stay fit and healthy because starting at CB in your fourth (fifth?) Euros in your forties is insane. Maybe it's just the power of pure spite and shithousery.

Cancelo is playing RW today? Why? They have plenty of good actual wingers.

 

ESPN has him as LWB in a 3-4-3. Not sure why Portugal need to be playing five defenders against the Czech Republic...

 

I reckon a defensive flank of Dalot and Cancelo might be to balance out against an attacking flank of Mendes and Leao. Could see Dalot drifting into midfield and Bruno/Bernardo drifting wide with Cancelo covering the RB spot.

 

Let's hope for the Portuguese sake it's not Martinez overthinking things tactically.

 

Something that might of interest to people here is the newish podcast called Football Vision. It's journalist Phil Costa speaking to experts about various topics, and they've previously done things like Athletic Club's history and basque-only policy, Red Bull's model and Austrian dominance, and PSG's youth academy regeneration.

Anyway, alongside the daily Euros roundup, they've put out a really good one hour podcast today previewing Copa America today and it really does a good job of talking about every team and highlighting key and emerging players from all of them.

Same as last time (2020), but you could argue either way for how it'll affect the entertainment value. Goal difference matters more when you end up with 3rd placed teams on the same points, so you can see teams accepting a loss and shutting down to avoid further goals, or it could do the opposite and cause teams to attack more. I'd lean towards the latter as after goal difference, goals scored matters next.

 

I live in an area with a large Turkish population (and have previously lived in an other area with a large Turkish population, close to where they were playing actually) so this kinda feels like my guys won, I was rooting for them

Bruno is a very good footballer.

 

Leao is simultaneously the only one doing anything, and also really frustrating because he always seems to make the wrong decision.
