how much of Burnley getting relegated was Kompany’s tactics and how much was it having players who aren’t that good?

I’ve seen comments that he wasn’t pragmatic enough in adapting his tactics once it was clear it wasn’t going to work with his squad. I only watched the matches against Liverpool, so I have no clue but that sounds reasonable

 

Hard to gauge RE Kompany as he's only managed in the Belgian league to mixed results, the Championship and then one season in the Premier League with a clearly inferior squad. The Bayern job is generally speaking massive, though, and Kompany is a very left-field decision for Bayern regardless of whether or not Burnley's relegation was his fault.

I get the impression none of the A list managers are avaliable so Bayern are forced into thinking outside of their usual train of thought. One thing Kompany has definitely got on his side is experience of being around the dressing room of high quality players/coaches from his City (and even his Belgium) days. Leadership skills were clearly a strong suit of his, too.
