Ah, so classic Pep. Just seems weird to have your club's top scorer... right there... down a goal... and not use them?

 

Aguero has zero form right now. Pep has not been using Jesus as a striker in the bigger matches for the most part this season. He has done this false nine thing a ton. My understanding is that is because Pep's biggest thing is not getting hit on the counter or shutting down counters. You can see that with how we play in these big matches.

Sam Lee from the Athletic summarizes this a bit in his tweet during the half.

He actually has been really interesting this season from a tactical perspective. Been reading a bunch of things recently on it. The flip of De Bruyne's position and filling the left channel versus the right this season. Along with how the back line sets up in a 2-3 or 3-2 format has been super intriguing to me as well.

 

PSG have backed off too far in this second half - exactly what they shouldn't have done given City have made very few runs in behind. They've isolated Mbappe and allowed City's midfield to control it more comfortably.

 

That may be Navas's worst mistake in his career...but I can't recall another one on a big stage by him. Continuously criminally underrated keeper.

PSG looked really well disciplined to start and once they scored they threw it out the window.

 

I don’t know but in the first half I was close to saying how I was impressed that Poch had Neymar and Mbappe working so hard defensively. Since half time the pair of them have been ambling around near the centre circle and City have had a lot more time on the ball.
