But don't you think a team like Man City should plan for that? With a healthy squad and that coach it kind of is achievable.

I’d say in any given season there are 6-10 that could reasonably expect to be in contention for the treble until early Spring. Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus, Bayern, PSG making you five of those in any given year in the last decade or so. City and Liverpool flirting with it the last few season.

the fact not many trebles have been won in their decades of dominance still shows how hard it is

I feel that a team should be the undisputed favourites for domestic league and cup to consider a treble a realistic expectation. With PSG, Bayern and Juventus that would be the case, but Barca + Real and Liverpool + City have each other to deal with in their respective leagues and too much competition in their cups for it to be realistic.

If luck goes you way then who knows. I know for a fact that Barca winning all 6 competitions they were in with Pep will absolutely never be repeated though lol, I cannot believe something like that happened in the first place let alone believing it will happen again!

    hmmm

One of the reasons our cup treble in 2001 is massively underrated. Literally played every game possible that season. League Cup, FA Cup, Uefa Cup, and we won the Charity Shield and European Super Cup at the start of the next season. Five finals, five wins in a few months.

    I wouldn’t say expectation. I’d say possibility

I guess for the top leagues in order to win the treble currently you have to be in a position where dropping points in league play won't derail domestic title hopes.

Luck is the most important thing. One unlucky deflection/decision can cost you the treble. It’s the same for most parts of football but when challenging for the three top trophies in a season it gets magnified.

I won tickets to some FA Cup 5th round games, I was going to go to the Spuds v Narwich one but couldn't really be bothered with trains and travel. Seems it would have been a decent choice if I had made the effort.

  15. Gedson was defeated before he kicked the ball. And then his attempt proved it.

    @MattW182 Supporter

Jose has come out in the post match presser and seemed to confirm it was because a supporter had started something with his younger brother, not to do with racism. Apparently the racism thing was just started by some bloke on twitter.

    hmmm

Yeah the racism story seemed suspect for a few reasons.

  24. Lucas and Bergwijn apparently both picked up injuries today. Dele likely banned for Saturday.

    What a wonderful season.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

It's nice to see Tim Krul looking the part again. The tail end of his Newcastle career was such a mess and he looked done. Good to see him looking formidable between the sticks again.

Also, every highlights package I see of Spurs, Lo Celso looks a hell of a player. Shame about the rest of them...
