Foyth has some good qualities. None of them are that of a defender. Although he did have some good moments today. I’m just scared he’s gonna give a penalty every time he’s near the ball in the box.

 

Mourinho on Ndombele:
"He played very well. Passing, movement, turning, never playing back passes, always getting the ball and looking forward and go between the lines and looking to the wingers. Fantastic quality of football I think."

The part that sticks out to me is “never playing back passes”. Winks is the king of making his stats look good because of a million backwards and sideways passes.

 

How did Dortmund win the race for Haaland?

 

Obviously the specifics of the negotiation process would help answer this question but on this side of things, I could venture to guess that it is at Dortmund that he would be given a higher chance of playing time sooner rather than later. Thinking of the other prestigious clubs like Juve and United, I don't see him forcing the coaches to drop any players in the lineup anytime soon and then opt for him.

But beyond this, Dortmund has a reputation for developing young talent or at least given them a platform to shine. At 19 this is a good club to find himself in given the amount of potential he has.

The question could also be, not how did BVB win the race, but what did the others do to lose the race for Haaland? The answer to that question is probably important too.
