What is the max number of players an EPL team can have signed?

So they sack the passenger who came out of the crashes the worst but keep the two players who actually committed the crime of driving under the influence? Clearly more to the story than what the public will ever know, but Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett have to go too, surely?

Carabao are the sponsors of the competition, which is the League Cup. In England, there are 3 main domestic trophies each season for most clubs - the league that they play in (Premier League, Championship, League 1, League 2, then the non-league ones), the FA Cup (open to every club in the country I believe or something along those lines), the League Cup (only the top 4 leagues can play in this one). After that, there are numerous smaller trophies like the FA Vase which is for smaller clubs.

Of those 3 main ones, the league and the FA Cup hold more prestige for the bigger clubs than the League Cup, and so often teams will rest a lot of their starters in the early rounds, only playing their starters if they make it to the semis or the final. For this reason, often there are a lot of upsets in the early rounds with relative minnows beating the "giants".

For a team that’s horrific in creating chances and taking shots we sure do win a lot of penalties :chin:

They’ll get sacked too. But he was the club captain, out on the piss and let one of the drive him home while being completely pissed. He shoulders responsibility too.

On the other hand they’re probably sacking him because his career is finished.

"Look at this guy setting this one up like he's Ronaldo, like he doesn't put them row Z each time. Lol, watch this be the first one he's ever put top corner..." - genuinely me, 6 seconds before Rashford hit it. Don't care if we lose the game off that one really.

That’s what everyone was saying. To be fair though he’s an incredibly clean striker of the ball and has always had that in his locker. They’re such low percentage chances though.

Good win. We weren’t great but it’s always a struggle at Stamford Bridge. We contained them well. Think Frank was out thought again.

McTominay was outstanding again. What a player he is.

Agree with this  Disagree kinda with this

I think a lot of people are missing the main factor here - Frank gifted United this win in order to further complicate United's already busy schedule, by keeping them in another midweek competition and ultimately fatiguing OGS squad earlier in the season, CFC will have an advantage in the race for CL spots. This is called "playing the long game", and is the mark of a great, forward-thinking manager.

    lol

I was curious if this was something they would’ve offered to do.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

There's no maximum on the number of players signed to a club (as far as I know). However, rules were brought in a few years back which changed how squads were registered for the league. Each team can only register 25 senior players and a proportion of these have to be "home-grown".

You can have as many under 21s (might be U23s, unsure) as you want to bolster that 25.

Not all teams will have 25 senior players registered though. There was a ridiculous situation maybe 2 years ago, where Newcastle had fewer senior registered squad players than Chelsea had players out on loan.

The next round of the carabao cup is on when Liverpool are playing the club World Cup. Gas Liverpool didn’t want to win, shipped 5 at home and still won. Football is mad.

So many competitions/trophies! Seems like with so many that the prestige of each would be diminished a bit

The League Cup basically has no prestige among the big teams unless it’s the only trophy they’ve won that season. Then it’s the most important trophy ever

  22. I'm convinced I'll never see Spurs win another trophy but if we won a league cup I don't think I'd even be excited about it haha I just know we'd be made fun of as we lift it. Finally got a trophy and it's the worst one.

You will be. For a day. Stretch that out to a week if Arsenal don’t win anything.

The prestige of the League Cup is diminished for probably the best 6 teams in the country. For everyone else, they would be over the moon with winning anything. In fact, it probably helps having a trophy like that, one that the big 6 don't care about as much, because it gives the smaller teams a chance of winning something. If there was only the League and the FA Cup, teams like City could do the double every year easily. Now, they have to prioritise, which gives teams lower down the table and down the league's a chance.

My local team are Middlesbrough. They won the League Cup about 15 years or so ago, and it's the biggest day in their history. They qualified for Europe through it reached a European final because of it. They have one of the major trophies in their cabinet because of it. The big teams don't care about it, but for sure anyone outside of the top division does.
