This is ridiculous. That VAR should never be in that role again.

Just seen this on Reddit -

So 3 of the Officials from yesterday that cocked up, including the 2 VAR, (Michael Oliver, Daniel Cook and Darren England) officiated a League match in Dubai, UAE on 28th September 2023.

UAE Pro League - Fixtures & Results

I'm not sure I buy into conspiracies and claims of match fixing etc., but surely it's a hugee conflict of interest having referees on the payroll of the owners of another team in the league (City), who just happen to be Liverpool's biggest rivals of late?

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Unsure if any of you watched MotD or whether it was explained elsewhere, but what makes that Liverpool offside even more ridiculous is that there is more than one VAR official and one of them acts as assistant to the other. You can maybe understand how one of them misses the onfield offside call (although you really have to wonder what they were looking at to not check the onfield before they confirmed it), but how does the assistant not question it. Are they all just on their phones or sat with their feet up or something?

They should have cams in the rooms where the VAR refs are for increased transparency. They should also have a mandate to show the drawn lines every time they are reviewing an offside call.

Seems like obvious & simple changes like this that increase transparency & standardization would really help.

VAR officials replaced after Diaz offside error

According to this, VAR thought it had been ruled a goal on the field and not offside, so said “check complete” thinking it was a goal, but the on field refs assumed that meant the offside call was correct.

Atletico are so fun to watch in 2023. A million miles from the old days of going up 1-0 and shutting up shop.

Actually fluid, attacking play with skill and pace.

I quietly put together a massive September in fantasy. Not quite sure how I did that. Discovered you can break down the league by monthly points: was 13th for August, 1st in September. Depending on what Morris does today for Luton, I could maybe even jump from 3rd to 2nd overall.

Wouldn't be surprised if I was last for September. Had a shambles of a month after a pretty okay start.
