Southgate needs a harsh reality check. You can't pick a player, especially a CB, who never plays for his team and when he does, looks like an absolute mess.

Missed three of the four goals so far by leaving the room.

last season, I missed the three goals Liverpool scored against Tottenham in the first 15 minutes because of taking my dog out, saw every one of Tottenham’s goals, then missed Jota’s extra time winner because my stream crapped out

    worst match watching experience ever

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I don't feel good about all this England positivity. We're still a way out and plenty can go wrong in that time.

Bloody Bellingham, going to the biggest club on the planet and being brilliant...

Not sure we're very sorted at the back, particularly centrally and in goal.

Honestly, this England team could be absolutely mad by the Euros.

I feel like the team picks itself in most places too, with just the one centre backs alongside Stones and one midfield alongside Rice up for grabs.

  11. Rashford Kane Saka
    Belly Rice Foden
    Shaw Tomori Stones Walker
    Pope

Not sure who the LCB or GK would be but overall that is a really good team next year.

What has Pickford done wrong? Not sure why you'd randomly start Pope.

Mostly agree with this other than GK has to be Pickford or Ramsdale. But I think Phillips was so good last night, if he gets game time this season, I’d go him over Foden. And if Chilwell is fit, I’d pick him at LB.

But my god this team will be fun. No reason we shouldn’t be at least in the Semi Finals. At least.

  17. Pope, Ramsdale, Pickford are all the same level to me

Thinking about it. I’d be tempted to start Dunk at CB. He was brilliant last night, and has been for several seasons.

Feel like at this moment in their careers, Trippier offers more on the right than Walker, especially defensively which England will need if Harry keeps getting time.

Walker offers pace to cover for Maguire's fuck ups/ lack of it though. Trippier offers set piece threat mind

I feel Walker is undervalued in the system for both club and country. I mean, there's not a chance Trippier can offer what Walker does for England. Imagine Trippier attempting a Walker recovery run when England get caught in possession? It's just not happening, for my money.

Trippier had a "renaissance" under Simeone at Atleti as part of a defensive low block and at first it looked like he'd continue that at Newcastle, but of recent his assists (what he excels at over Walker) have dried up and so have Newcastle's clean sheets.

Edit: @AFoolsGlory posted while I was typing.
