Pogba has told Man U that he wants to leave .that's usually breaking point.

 

The Times is reporting that Leicester will sign two guys I've never heard of (one from Turkey and one from Croatia) and United will sign Maguire.

I’m so ready for the season to start. The World Cup was fun but I miss the premier league.

 

Shame to hear about Wednesday being such a mess. I'd heard the stuff about the shirt fuck ups and the refund debacle, but I didn't realise that the owner had dug such a deep hole for the club to lie in.

 

Not sure about the Turkish boy but Benkovic is good. He replaced Simunovic (who we took) in that Zagreb team and has looked the part. He's definitely a leader, despite being young and has a good awareness of positioning around him. We were linked with him previously, when it looked like Simunovic was going to Torino, but nothing came of it.

 

Villa are wanting that much because getting to the Premier League is a lot more important that £25m. If they keep Grealish they've a better chance at that.

Honestly the market is so fucky this summer what I'm going to say probably doesn't hold water. But attackers have generally always been more valuable and more expensive than defenders.

 

This window has been ridiculous. At this stage I just want us to sign someone lol. I'd be happy with Maguire. That Turkish lad Leicester are linked to is supposed to be a good young player though. Seems they want him regardless of what happens.

 

See Celtic have matched the price for McGinn? He was at Villa y'day discussing things so I'm not even sure he would come to us now.

 

The Alderweireld / Martial swap + money deal is apparently still on too according to someone who's supposedly in the know on a Spurs board. Interesting. I don't want Toby to go as I love his duo with Vertonghen, but if Spurs get Martial, I'd be fine with that.

It's also weird to me that United are the only team going for Maguire after his performance at the World Cup.

As someone who lives in Sheffield, I'm really sorry to hear this. I didn't realise it had got so bad.

It is infuriating when these rich foreigners who don't know enough about football take over. We had the same at Forest with Fawaz (from Kuwait) - a nice guy with good intentions who tried to invest in the club but ended up leading us to transfer embargos, unpaid taxes and relegation battles. Ohh and we haven't ended the season with the same manager we started for a long, long time. They have unrealistic expectations and think they can throw money at things to get promotion. The Championship does not work like that. It's a very tough league. It's really sad - thankfully we haven't gone down yet and Fawaz had the sense to sell up. Now we're owned by a Greek gangster and I'm still not 100% sure of what's going to happen. With the amount we've spent this summer, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up in another embargo further down the line.

What I've noticed is that quite a few of the promoted League One teams sometimes have considerable momentum from their promotion. I remember teams like Southampton and Norwich getting back to back promotions. Sheffield United tailed off towards the end of last season and that, for me, gives a true indication of their quality. Poor start this season but they should be a comfortable mid-table team and I'd be surprised if they're bottom in a couple of months. As you say, Wilder seems like a solid manager. We shall see though!

I'm still laughing over that Gomes +extra for Pogba bid.

 

He's now having medical at Villa. We've botched this over what seems like a small amount of money in the grand scheme of things when we could've got him on lower wages as well. He'd have come then but now with English interest, don't see it. Rodgers hasn't sounded happy at all in the press, written and tv, over how our transfers have went down. Izaguierre coming back to offer cover at LB, uninspired but at least we know what we are getting.
