You don't have to even get into the Southeast to get that nonsense anymore, going to be 91F and 70% humidity here in Michigan today, oh and we got all the Canadian wildfire smoke making the air quality some of the worst in the states.

We were complaining earlier this month that the sun wasn't out for more than 60 minutes. LOL we are pathetic sometimes in San Diego when it comes to weather

I was looking at going out that way last December and was cackling at the locals telling folks to bring jackets because its so cold during that month. I was like I am coming from the Tundra this will be like a tropical vacation lol.

it wasn't even that cold of a winter either. Most days I only wore a jacket for comfort not because i was cold.

We've got that smoke here, too, and it's wild how bad it got yesterday. Forcing all my runs inside the one time of year I love running by the river. We had a rain storm this morning, so hoping it clears a bit.

Yeah I saw it was getting down into Southern Indiana yesterday did not even think of looking over your way. Think we are going to get some relief for a few days but sounds like we are going to be dealing with this for like a month.

I am going hiking in Hocking Hills next week and hoping that shit clears up, not trying to hike with a mask on.

First homegrown player to sign a contract with us! Really love seeing how the growth of the youth system is starting to pay off. I think the SE Michigan area has a lot of underrated talent.

Still blows my mind we started at the bottom tier of the US soccer pyramid and now we have homegrown players entering our team. "Started from the bottom, now we here"

Never really hits me how mad football wages are until I see this and think David De Gea can afford to buy one of his teammates with less than a months wages.

Seems that Arsenal/Liverpool/United are all going with the two attacking midfielders and one DM approach

    Havertz - Odegaard
    Rice

    Mac Allister - Szobozlai
    Fabinho

    Mount - Bruno
    Casemiro

    It's all hell.

As potentially Chorus.fm's most southern eastlery boy (being born in Margate and spending pretty much my whole life on the coast and working in London) I have to stand up for the south (the best I can!) here.

It's been fucked by overpricing (London particularly), awful politics, and it's also not as pretty as the North, (the North has the lake district for fucks sake). However, London outside of the commuters, tourists and money wankers is one of the most eclectic cities in the world, and although it's ridiculously expensive, where it's even running some of my best friends out of it because of the cost of living - the communities, culture and food(!) are incredible and I don't think it's matched in any other city in the country in that regard (and I love Manchester).

Where I live specifically has been majorly impacted by Brexit - Its a place where Nigel Farage lost several times trying to win an MP seat in my hometown, (because he's a ****), and Dover in particular has been left to fend for itself in the ongoing UK/EU regulation debate - especially in holiday periods where there are miles of qeues of traffic trying to get to France.

What I would say is that the summers can be beautiful with amazing beaches along the coast, has great art and music scenes, it's historical as fuck and it's also easy to get into mainland Europe.

I just wish it was less Tory.

The south is also home to the Arsenal and my best friends, so I love it.

  15. Damn. Was hoping Spurs would go after him.

  16. Also…Liverpool‘s new midfield may be nice, but that new away kit is not.

will be back to back seasons of less than stellar away kits. particularly unfortunate considering how great the 21/22 away kit was

Couldn’t agree more with this. Especially the part about how vibrant and multicultural and generally great London is.

I come from a working class North London family, most of whom chose to leave for more space and a better quality of life. But it’s an incredible city, and it totally makes sense that someone like Rice would rather stay there than go elsewhere.

Sadly, my hometown is another Tory hellscape. We have one of the worst MP’s in the country, who is against gay rights, trans rights, human rights, wants to privatise the NHS, etc. But FINALLY it seems like he will be voted out.

    Also he looks like this:

I’ve never had a bad time in London. It’s a fantastic city. But it’s just not somewhere I’d love to live if I had a free choice, you know?

I can only handle central London in small doses as it's far too hectic for me to deal with haha. West London (Slough) is where my Dad hails from but I've never lived there myself.

  21. JM95

    hmmm

Yeah, it depends where in London. You don't want to live in the centre but there are some very nice places elsewhere, without the chaos, and without the noise. Having grown up in north west London, I know that the range of settings within an individual borough alone can be pretty extensive. I find it hard to define in that sense.

The cost down here is the main problem. That's what would make me head north more than anything. I live in Surrey now and there are many beautiful, serene places, sites with fascinating historical significance and weight, and conveniently quick trains into London — really my perfect place to live, outside but with access to the big city, without the exhausting overstimulation of having to live there — but if I'm trying to buy at any point in the next few years I'll have to move.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Northerner here. I've always loved visiting London for days and weekends, but couldn't imagine the daily grind there. I like some space to keep to myself sometimes and that just isn't really on the cards.

Money no object, I'd definitely spend more time there.

As for Brighton (another fond place for me), I can understand that Argentine's feelings, having walked along the front, in the driving rain, at 2am, in February. I might as well have swum home.

That being said, do agents just not bother explaining what a new city is going to be like? Do they just hope the player will show up on a nice day or something?

American here, we threw tea in the Atlantic so I don’t have to an opinion about London.

I’ve wanted to visit for a very long time.

I used to do day trips to London pre-pandemic before flights got insanely dear. 20 quid there and back. Nice lunch, see a museum, have a pint and hop back.
