I was never really a small kid, but there is something incredibly humbling about trying to mark a kid 5 inches taller with a full mustache at 12 years old

on that, has anyone ever played with/against a young lad that's gone on to be a professional? Robbie Brady is from my area/village, but he played for a team a while away, I played with and against him once. Had to mark him as the full back. Nightmare, he wasn't too tall but he was a stocky lad with so much power. Other than that I've played with a few lads that got professional contracts with teams in Britain but a lot came home after a year with homesickness or other issues. They were mostly underprivileged lads, I think the experience got the better of them.

Once played and beat an Arsenal affiliated academy in a tournament in Liverpool and also played a kick about with some Arsenal youth player who was in Ireland for the summer for some bizarre reason. Couldn't speak a word of English but he was utterly insane with the ball.

Never played in a club but as a kid I played with a girl from my school that would later become a pro at Turbine Potsdam. She won some league titles and cups and also the Champions League once (it wasn't called Champions League back then but it was basically the same competition). She also got one cap for Germany.
