Guessing he must be good then. Tbh I don’t think we need him but if he is relatively cheap it wouldn’t be terrible.

As we’re so close to the WC, thought I’d think of my current TOTS. So I came up with:

    Pope (New)

    White (Ars)
    Saliba (Ars)
    Dias (Mnc)
    Cancelo (Mnc)

    Joelinton (New)
    Xhaka (Ars)

    Almiron (New)
    De Bruyne (Mnc)
    Trossard (Brighton)

    Haaland (Mnc)

    subs:
    Ederson (Mnc)
    Martinez (Mnu)
    Trippier (New)
    Maddison (Lei)
    Martinelli (Ars)
    Toney (Bre)
    Kane (Tot)

Feels like I have forgotten someone obvious.

I have a lot of sympathy with Pogba as a person, it must be devastating for him on a human level, but my god am I glad he's no longer United's problem.

Done something I only do a few times a season, and listened to a podcast for a different club. Listened to a Brighton podcast, and it struck me just how much more this meant to them than getting one over Potter.

They spoke about how Chelsea have effectively attempted to gut their club, stealing their best player, their manager, their director of football, and most of the coaching staff. They are apparently also attempting to unsettle more of the players too. They mentioned feeling like there was attempt to rip the soul out of the club. They were saying this felt like the biggest fuck you they could imagine.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Happy for Brighton. Will always root for them whenever they aren’t playing Tottenham.

Trossard will be joining Chelsea in the summer no doubt.

I know a follow up post has already been made dismissing this as a rumor (Tom Bogert is a great source for MLS) but I'm honestly surprised by the rumor at this point. Even if it were true, Torres had a respectable, above average season for a player's first season in MLS. For what he earns, it took him much too long to get used to MLS and seemed a bit timid for too long. He eventually settled in and began making impacts in some crucial moments. But at this point, I think his main drawbacks as a player are his speed and size. Yet he does have a good IQ on the field (from what I can tell) and a keen eye for a cheeky pass here and there. His left foot is pretty strong and he doesn't need much space to take a shot in the box when he's feeling confident. His accuracy will only improve over time, I'm sure.

I can see the potential but I think at least another half season in MLS would do him some good. It would seem more reasonable to move during the summer of '23 if he is to move within the next calendar year. He reminds me a bit of Almiron at that age and if he puts up the second season numbers the way Almiron did, he'll be off to Europe for sure.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Botman and Burn have been quietly excellent at Newcastle so far. We've conceded fewest of all teams. I'm actually not sure I'd choose Pope. Individually, he's had a few scary days. Although, I'm not sure who I'd rather have on performances alone this season. On reputation, it would be Ederson or Allison.

Cheeky shout for Mitro at Fulham?

Looking at the table to see if anyone obvious has been missed has reminded me that like 15 teams in the division are being utterly unremarkable.

yeah I considered Botman too tbf. Pope was picked because I felt no goalkeeper has actually had a spotless season so far. Ederson, Allison, De Gea, Lloris, Mendy/Kepa, Ramsdale have all had bad moments, so I picked Pope over Ederson to stop it being 50% Man City players lol.

Mitro would have been in a few weeks ago but I think he’s suffered injuries and should have had two red cards

This has to be simultaneously the funniest and weirdest trend in modern football. Does it ever even work?

I think it was Costa Rica where they set off fireworks outside the USMNT hotel for six straight hours back in the 2014 cycle. We lost that one epically so maybe?
