Would hockey fit inside the 18 too? Tennis definitely does. Volleyball might fit in the 6?

Football fits inside with the endzones.

I had no idea basketball courts were so small. That seems impossible.

That being said, a few years back a group I played 7 aside with decided to do a couple of 11 a side matches for fun and switching to a full size pitch felt obscene. Maybe it's not that other sports have small playing areas, maybe football pitches are just stupidly big. :D

Ya, that's news to me too. Quite unreal when you put it into perspective.

Full size soccer pitches are really massive. Like someone said jumping from a 7 side field to a full 11 field is insane and I was not nearly in good enough shape to be playing on that big of a pitch when I jumped in an 11 vs. 11 pickup game lol. A rec league near me runs an 11 vs. 11 division and I have no idea how people do that for fun.

I mean american football and soccer pitches are about the same length usually but the width is the key difference there. The width of a soccer pitch can be up to almost double of an american football field. It seems like soccer pitches are usually between 22-47 more yards of width.

    hmmm

At a professional level, it's one of the cool things about football as a game – it doesn't matter how good you are, the pitch is too big for you to adequately cover it all at once.

Hence the "short blanket" theory that a few coaches like to talk about; if you cover your feet, you leave your head exposed, if you cover your head, your feet stick out. The tactical side is broadly about which areas you focus on covering at which times.

Every 11v11 pitch I've played on that was even just approaching that size was never that fun. You have to be genuinely fit and talented for it to work.

The biggest pitch I ever played on was 106m x 70m. It was fucking hell as a right back. Old Trafford is 105mx68m for comparison.

Definitely makes sense why the average player runs 6-7 miles a match.

The wild thing is how long that front line could stay together or until we move Foden into midfield once Silva or Gundo leave.

Having a Gomez and Gomes on your bench is so random and weird to me.
