  1. There are some rumors that Spurs could try to hijack the Gordon move but at 60m I hope not lol

  2. 120m for Cucurella and Gordon

Tbf there are rumours that Chelsea see Gordon as more of a RWB than a pure winger, maybe he'll be better suited at that. Might need to up his fitness levels, but means the lack of end product isn't as important. But even if that's the case, £60m is still a big overpay. Maybe they're offering him huge wages and he doesn't want to turn down the generational wealth, in which case fair play, I'd probably push for the move too regardless of future career impact.

yeah I assume he's gonna be a rwb.

    hmmm

Reece James has been great at RCB pretty much every time he plays there so yeah, there's a potential spot open at RWB, especially given Azpilicueta's age.

Money is fake so go ahead and sign Gordon up especially with rumors of Ziyech and potentially CHO on the move.
More concerned about the attacking play, I know Auba seems like a done deal which should help if TT will put Havertz back in a more natural position, we’re just lacking that creativity to put guys in great scoring position in the open field. Feels like dating back to the second half of last season goals are coming off set pieces and random bounces and I’m not sure a pure striker like Auba solves that entirely

I thought Mount would be perfect as a creative hub for Chelsea. Where has it gone wrong for him this season?

Seems like that role is sort of being filled by Sterling so far, he’s been much more creative through three games than Mount. I’m not sure how much of it has to do with not having that natural 9 making timely runs and putting himself in good position for Mason to pick out, so maybe once we do he can rediscover some of that in his game. But so far just been a bit disappointed with him he’s looked a little
aimless out there as has Kai

  12. Good to know. Have fun with that Chelsea lol

I'm not that surprised, all things considered. Very different players in very different teams. Gerrard never played in a team as good as City, played in much more defensively-focused Liverpool teams and in his early years played games at RB, RWB, DM and as a narrow right-sided midfielder. I remember him being compared to Roy Keane around 2001ish. He only really started playing in attacking positions when Rafa arrived and even then played more games in central midfield than people often remember.

Gerrard had three world class seasons. 05/06, 07/08 and 08/09. A bunch of other really good ones too but he basically had three full seasons when he was right at the top of his game. De Bruyne when he leaves City will probably have a solid case for being the best midfielder of the PL era.

I do wonder if KDB ends up being number two for assists in PL history? He is 22 way from Fabregas, if he stays healthy, he has maybe two more years after this year left at a high level.

Might depend on how well or not teams can disconnect him from Haaland.

Very good section on this on today's Guardian Football Weekly, where they speak to Jonathan Wilson (IIRC) who is out there right now. He talks a lot about this and it's very interesting.

There's already Cup games getting played?

It's the League Cup, not FA Cup. It always starts after the 3rd gameweek of the Premier League season for the 13 teams not involved in a European competition.

Douglas Luiz has scored for Villa from a corner tonight, apparently.

Villa playing a nearly full strength squad and looking shit too by the sounds of it. Could be a big night for the Sack Race
