No need to use some fancy stats, United under Ole plays way better than United under Jose. Simple as that. Just look at the games won...

just looking at the result is a very ends/means way to look at it, and fair play if that's all some people are interested in. always personally been into advanced stats cause they tell you how and why games are won and lost, and point to larger themes about how teams play.

Ole United vs Mourinho United is obvious of course, we weren't even really discussing that

Had been nightmarish for them this season and is trying to force more money. A young guy named Reguilon has easily and rightfully displaced him in the line up.

They might tell you that or they might not. The point is stats can be very misleading. The only thing that really tells you how and why games are won is by watching the games yourself.

agreed, they need to offload a bunch of players and bring in a bunch of new blood.

Very little quality in this match but very exciting. Much like the derby yesterday.
Kane was very clearly attempting to play the ball. Hell, the ball was played towards him.

they have looked ordinary in large stretches this season, even when they’ve won, the front 3 haven’t really clicked like in previous seasons

Klopp excuses are hysterical at times.

Been very boring. Traded their attacking excellence for being strong at the back.

    Michael Keane was colossal today.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

For what it's worth, I quite like the addition of the XG stat. I don't think it tells you a lot about the story of the game, but I find it interesting to know the number of probable chances which were put away. For example, if a team has 15 shots, 10 on target, 1 XG and no goals, that implies that their chances actually weren't very good and they spurned one. If you just have the shots on goal/target, that looks like a team have been unlucky.

The United vs Southampton game at the weekend was a good example of how it adds a little value. There were 5 goals, but the XG was lower than that because both teams scored some absolute blinders.

Spurs better go through tonight. They need a win, their season has more or less collapsed over the last ten days.

would really take something catastrophic for them not to go through tonight (if they score once, Dortmund would need 5) but put nothing past them

I kinda want Dortmund to go through *shrugs*

  20. If we lose 4-0 today I think the new stadium may be burned to the ground and they’d have to start all over again

Dortmund's defense hasn't been great through February and I don't see it getting much better if Hakimi remains at RB. So I'm expecting a first half goal from Tottenham for sure. I would very much like to be wrong, however.
