I understand why a team would go for Bale first, but it does baffle me there haven't been any big moves for his "back-ups" in Isco or Vasquez. They're not a far dip in quality and surely don't want to ride the bench behind him (even though he gets injured a fair amount).

 

Maybe controversial, but I'd probably take Barkley at United. He probably (read: definitely) wouldn't start for us, and would cost a bomb in fee and wages, but I've always quite liked him.

 

I think Barkley could be a huge player, he's just not gelled with Everton the last couple of years. He needs a strong manager that can help him round out his game. I'd take him at United too, but not for the money he would cost.

 

I doubt Everton is going to get the money they're asking for though. Currently asking for around 50m. Will probably get 30-35m. I'd normally say that's too much but in today's world I'd do it. Like I said, Poch could be great for him.

 

I think about £25 million and a few add ons and Barkley would be a good deal. Like you say, in this world, that money gets you nothing these days.

 

Always liked Barkley but I think he needs a change. Everton fans dubbed him the next Rooney at a very young age and obviously he never met those unreasonable expectations. It'll suck for Everton if he ever becomes a world class player for another team (unlikely I know) but I'll be happy for him if he does.

 

Pretty much my thoughts when I saw that headline.

I wonder if he wants a new and easier challenge. Maybe he's going to sign for Doncaster Rovers?
