That is one of the saddest things I've read in a while.

I remember Defoe putting out an advert for a brand manager or something last year and it made him sound like such a tool, but fair play on this one. I don't think I could cope with that particular visit.

Does intent matter? His arms were flailing away from his body and there's no way the ball goes in without the contact with his arm/hand.

 

Intent shouldn't matter imo. If you benefit from the ball hitting your hand it should be a free kick.

I don't actually know the laws surrounding handball but intention is dumb imo.

 

I'm hungover I meant of you benefit from.the ball hitting your hand while it's in an unnatural position.

 

I agree that those should be the laws, all this "un-natural position" stuff just confuses things. Ball hits hand and you/team gain an advantage from it = handball
