So I want to get a feel for something. I always felt like if something is the top post on r/mls or r/soccer, I shouldn't post it in here because chances are everyone has already seen it and it's "old news" at that point.

Do we want to try stimulating more discussion about top stories? For example, if I linked the article about the USWNT suing over wage discrimination (top post on r/mls rn) would people bother discussing it in here or are we all getting our fix elsewhere? I know for like, 2 years now, I've come in and posted my thoughts about my team that nobody else really relates to, and thats it. Rarely do I see general discussion about the sport, you know?

Hah I was laughing the last couple of weeks when it was mentioned that no one was posting in the ap thread and a couple of us were here posting away.

This made me laugh.

There's not been much going on because internationals are the worst. Gary Neville getting sacked was late but they're in danger of relegation with their run-in so I guess something had to be done.

 

To be honest, I think Gary is only part of a bigger problem there. They had to sell the club to someone who frankly shouldn't be running the 4th biggest team in Spain, all because of poor financial decisions and bad luck regarding a new stadium years ago. The owner will ruin that club, I think. And supporters know it. They've got players who don't care, over priced past it marquee strikers that can't score from 10 yards and now no manager.

That said, it was the right decision. Should have happened a month ago though, before the loss to Levante.



On a side note, how did everyone feel about their country's international performance this week, friendly or not?

 

I didn't watch either of the Ireland matches this week. A work mate got free tickets to both and didn't go. There's such an apathy towards our team it's ridiculous even if we are going to the euros.

Two decent results, mind you.

 

How do you rate your chances at the Euros? I'm excited at the idea of all the home nations (minus Scotland but oh well eh?) competing and looking genuinely good.

 

We're pretty awful altogether really. I'm expecting the same end result as last euros. Still shocked we beat Bosnia. We have a tough group too so I'm not too optimistic. That's not to say if you ask me a week before I'll t

 

I'm extremely disappointed Scotland aren't there. Silly Home Nations.

Performances in friendlies have been better. The result in Czech was a real morale booster considering the last time we played there was Levein's atrocity of 4-6-0. The Denmark game was OK. Nothing spectacular and grinded a result out. I think the best thing for Scotland personally has been the calling up of new players. Tierneylooked very accomplished for someone who's only been playing first team football for about 6months. Ross McCormack should be picked more regularly. There's a solid group of players, we need to build from them.
