Gillian Jacobs might be my favorite performance from any of those shows though.

Door #3 was pretty average, Thanksgiving was really cute. I stand by this not being a comedy.

Alright finished, last two were solid, really good finale. The episodes with less Aziz were better, I don't think he's strong enough to really carry a show on his own, but he was very good in those last two. That final Eric conversation was probably his best acting of the series as well. Also this is definitely not a comedy.

    I'm gonna rank them:
    10. Le Nozze - peak awkward talking and people liking them when they should be hated
    9. Religion - Season 1 leftover
    8. The Thief - I'm sure there are Italian films I should watch to understand this more

    7. Door #3 - Moving set pieces around, nothing too memorable
    6. The Dinner Party - Cute, but whatever, who gets that excited over dancers anyway?

    5. Amarsi Un Po - Good episode, but drags more than the other good episodes
    4. Thanksgiving - Interesting way to tell a story, really fleshes out Denise, Michelle is great

    3. Buona Notte - Ending scene was very well done, and the Raven stuff was really good
    2. New York I Love You - Peak risk taking, not really funny, but a very interesting different kind of show
    1. First Date - Very cute, great execution, probably the most jokes. Love the guests.

  6. I'd swap Thanksgiving and Buona Notte, but otherwise I agree with a lot of this. I do think Aziz can carry a show on his own--First Date is great and his acting toward the end is great--but I wish the season-long storyline was more compelling.

I kinda hate his group of friends most of the time, but the Thanksgiving episode was solid. I love the dynamic between Denise's family and Aziz.

also was not at all at the right level of sobriety to watch the New York, I Love You episode without knowing the premise of it beforehand. Almost freaked out knowing that the muted part was ending, but not knowing exactly when the sound would kick back in

Man Thanksgiving, and ep 9 were something else.

I'm gonna watch the finale later. I purposely didn't want to binge this season so I could make it last at least a week. Glad I did cuz I'm not ready to wait for another season. Assuming we're even getting one.

Just started tonight and I'm halfway through the first season. I can't believe this took me so long to watch. I'm in love.

I saw an interesting criticism of this show in that it's a lot of (overall) "rich people doing rich people things".

Thoughts? I kinda agree to an extent, (early S2 spoilers) especially when Arnold visits Italy. But on the other hand, I feel like something like that is somewhat excusable because it's a fairly ridiculous scenario - I don't think i would go all the way to Sicily for a wedding like that, especially an ex-girlfriend's. I also do sorta agree with the "rich people doing rich things" when they go to these super high-end bars all the time.

I don't know, just some thoughts. Unless you look at it as being just sort of a stylistic/strictly plot related thing, ie. the way Friends is

I mean he is a c-list actor who lives in New York (on the show). So Dev has some money, He's not gonna be drinking at Applebee's. I think it serves the character.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

If it was extremely in your face and the characters were snobby about it, then it would be an issue....but its just a part of the character that he has money, so of course they'd be doing things that "rich people" would do. I'm not sure why people have a problem with that.

Did you finish Love? It's one continuous arc, so I can't imagine this sentiment holds much validity if you bailed on it.

I'll check out You're the Worst because these deconstructions of the modern relationship are totally crack for me recently. Season two of Love gets impossibly real at points, though, and I think you may benefit from revisiting it. /endtwocents

Lovveeddd this season. Where as season 1 lost me towards the end, this had me feeling all over the place. I personally did not love the character of Rachel, and thought the show really benefited from introducing multiple complicated relationships in her place. Dev encountering her in public and not falling back in love with her was really refreshing. The wedding was the low point of the season but other than that it was just about perfect imo. I'd be fine with it ending here but I'd also be thrilled for an older Aziz to revisit it.
