I don't know how much I buy those graphs though to be honest. Baylor had a 10% chance or less down the stretch of winning? They were down 2 with less than a minute to play?

FGCU had a non-existent chance of winning at the half? They were down 1. I'm not really sure how that's supposed to make sense.

 

I imagine they're taking seedings into account, historical tourney data and the like as opposed to just raw game data.

 

They don't run the numbers as if the teams are on a level playing field. I didn't see the odds, but I'm sure x/100 times UNC would beat FGCU in a single half of basketball.

 

I've always been curious about that methodology, but never looked into it that much.

 

I mean yes, but that still doesn't explain Baylor, the Vegas favorite, down 2 with a minute left and the ball not being given a shot by the projection at all

 

I thought when they were down 2 that Yale had possession? Silver tweeted out that situation is viewed as 50/50 by some but their numbers show it as 80/20 or even 90/10 at times.
