I actually think it would have been a better idea to release Keel Timing before Bed Head.

Disagree. I know the songs play off each other and are built around similar musical motifs but Keel Timing wouldn't have had anywhere near as much impact as lead single.

 

It completely makes sense how they did it in the context of the album as a whole.

 

if they dropped keel first i could see myself being kinda meh on this release like i was on black mile and maybe not being plugged in to check out bed head.

 

it's 'the gold' followed by 'the alien' rollout

 

Why don't they just release ALL of the songs as singles this week, and then release them as an album as scheduled?

 

The Gold was a good first single. Voice (best song on the album). I found The Alien quite boring.

Bedhead is strong first single. Brings in a balance of MO elements for new and old fans. First half of Keel Timing reminds me of certain 90’s bands bridges (like I Mother Earth) that kinda seem to just be wandering. Doesn’t hit me as a single, although in the context of the album I feel like a song like Keel Timing could be more effective than it feels to me now.

 

Who *doesn't* have a copy of the album?

Mellow MO > Hard Rock MO

Literally.

 

Based on what I've heard rumblings of, and bouncing off of BoldTitan here... If you enjoy some mellow MO, you'll love this. I'm sure the whole thing has moments where it will get loud, but I for one am stoked to see where they take this Black Mile sequel.

 

It also makes me wish that I hadn't delved into Keel and Bed Head so much. If they're the loudest highlights, it would be better to have been surprised by the whole thing. Might take some time to let the whole album roll off of me for a few months to let those singles settle better in the whole context of the album.

 

yeah, I agree with the above. its a grower for sure. the first half is more immediate, but the second half is probably better. very cinematic, yeah, and lots of smooth transitions

Also, what are the chances they've already got this album pressed and ready to ship in a month?

I've been reading about a lot of back up in vinyl production, so it doesn't give me much hope that we will actually see our records ship in a month.

Maggie Rogers vinyl keeps getting delayed and delayed. Hoping my 12 packages arrive around release lol.

 

They've said they'd ship around album release and would have stated any expected delays up front so it's a very good chance.

 

I still haven't received my OK Human vinyl, that was supposed to ship the last week of January.
