bout to lose my shit. This dude on genius keeps changing the lyrics from oil and fire to holy fire in the first chorus. The handwritten notes say oil and fire. It sounds like oil and fire. And this dude keeps editing my transcribed lyrics to say "Holy fire"


We keep going back and forth.

 

Took a couple listens for the single to click but in love for sure now.

I read the lyrics on genius after my first listen and thought, "huh, i thought that said holy fire" so i can get why people think that.

 

He does say holy fire in the later choruses

 

oh well that explains it then

 

Andy is one of those artists that puts one lyric down on paper and then sings something slightly different in the recorded track. Check BBIII for recent proof.

 

Let's pump those numbers up, baby.

 

That first chorus definitely sounds like "You and I are holdin' fire" but what do I know.

 

I didn't realize he was saying "ghost" until I read the lyrics either.

Also in other news, I got my Vinyl stimulus, I mean, my tax refund for the year. Literally almost all of it went to MO merch lol

also also, I will be very annoyed if the lyrics aren't actually handwritten and it's just this high quality image I already have, printed on a piece of paper lol

 

Yeah, I've seen that, but still doesn't change what it sounds like. And many times I've seen written lyrics - whether in the liner notes or on Bandcamp - that are clearly different than what the song actually says.

 

I mean, the line is clearly "Blood on the bed head and volumes YOU left unsaid" not we, so . . .

 

My understanding is that it is just printed.

“Printed lyrics on cardstock and signed by band” seems pretty cut and dry to me, and why I opted for the poster trio instead.

 

For sure. I have You on Genius. I do hear oil and fire in the first chorus though. There is another one I corrected from this as well.

I mean, he literally has an either/or in the last chorus on the handwritten lmao

It bums me out that this may be the perfect record for them to link back up with Kings of Leon for a tour. It'd be cool to see them together again.

 

That would be a tour that I'd leave before the headliner
