Dude never once acknowledged he actually did it, still says he'd never

It's a management decision but it is worth fighting to get what needs to be done done

Also that band was on a major label, they aren't one little known band

Little known lol Astrocoast was one of the biggest indie rock records of the year when it came out

just the fact that people would prefer to just ignore abuse because it's uncomfortable and gets in the way of "positive things" shows why this needs to be spoken about more and more

I've never seen Manchester before, glad it will be with Foxing and Tigers Jaw. I think I'll really like this but I'm refraining listening to anything just bc I want the whole story. I love this band and I love stranger things so the narrative will be dope

Also is Surfer Blood the band that had one of their members die and it seemed like everyone was super sad about that? I'll read those articles posted when I have a few to sit down with it bc I think I must be confusing some information with another band

    that is the band.

sucks that the member had to go through that, it's a very tragic situation but that of course doesn't excuse the singer from assaulting his girlfriend and then in press for their album saying he'd never hurt a fly

I never got the "he did his time" argument. Dude is a human pile of trash. He plead guilty but continues to deny he did anything violent.

I'd hope MO would know better than to bring him out on tour and contribute to his success. The band may not have known, it may have been a management decision, and it may only be for three dates, but it's not too late to find a replacement.

exactly how i feel. i'm not going to blame manchester or any of the bands but we can at the very least try to reach out and see what can be done.

I honestly hadn't followed the Surfer Blood thing at all and don't really listen to them, but if the singer really isn't remorseful at all and still denies he did anything violent, then yeah fuck that, I hope they get dropped.

Yeah, I feel the same. I kind of sort of know some Foxing people IRL but I'll start by tweeting at Connor.

i know connor is pretty active on twitter and i guarantee he wouldn't stand for this if he knew, he might have no power over the situation but at the very least there's no harm trying

I ended up messaging Jon since I known him a bit better.

There's room in the music scene for people who have made mistakes who own up to it and actively try to change and raise awareness. But not for people who lie and deny those mistakes ever happened.

exactly. people make mistakes, and then there's a definitely accountability procedure to go through and make amends. this is definitely not one of those cases

I'll be on vacation so I can't complain too much, but holy hell what a lineup to miss. Especially knowing that the Atlanta date will be a mini-Stuffing with more bands to be announced.

Very confused then, how public was the assault? Seems like no one brought it up or was aware of it before (I sure wasn't, anyway). Also saw TJ call them wonderful on their Tumblr announcement for the tour which is weird

pretty public, pitchfork's big feature for their major label record talked about it but in a positive light

Read all the links posted, dude was literally put in a program for assault so I'm not sure how that can be construed as innocent or whatever. Has a super narrow view on what he considers to be violent, too.

Hope they get dropped and glad they're not at my date. Definitely wouldn't want to give them money.

As a criminal defense attorney, it sometimes isn’t worth the fight if it’s a he-said, she-said argument because they will believe the alleged victim 99% of the time. The program was likely part of a diversion agreement(although I did not read the articles). They probably just wanted it to go away whether he did it or not.
