Mad Men is up there near the top for me. I might have to go with Breaking Bad or the first season of True Detective (since it's a standalone story) as my favorite all time.

  2. People always think I'm joking when I say this but Bojack Horseman reminds me of Mad Men a lot.

I've tried multiple times, but I can't get into Bojack Horseman. I've seen 1.5 seasons and I just get bored.

There is nothing silly about that at all. There are big similarities between the main characters.

One of my favorite things in this show is when major world events are happening in the background of the characters doing shitty stuff. I'm finishing up season 3 right now, and noticed Don trying to get laid while you hear MLK's "I Have A Dream Speech" playing on the radio in his car. And then when Duck unplugs the TV while the Kennedy assasination news is breaking to make sure that Peggy is unaware and will still be interested in screwing him. It just seems so real and human to me.

  8. My single favorite shot in the series is the Don looking outside on the smoggiest day in NYC history.

Lane looking out his office in that one wide shot is always my favorite.

Also when Sally, and Glen are at the museum.

I watched that Sally/Glen episode two days after going to the Natural History Museum in LA and realized that it was shot there. I love when things like that happen.

Finished the re-watch. That group therapy session at the end when Don hugs the random dude gave me all the feels.

A truly perfect exercise in character studying. I love this show. I love the writing, the music, the acting, the set design, the very feel of the show. Very simply, this is a complete piece of art and one that reigns over others in a way. It's changed the way I watch television and continues to form emotional connections with me long after I've finished the series.

Probably my favorite show of all time. Although, the new season of Twin Peaks is really somethin' else...but yeah, absolutely adore this show.

This is probably the best season finale I've ever seen.

Edit: like, this could have easily been the series finale and I would have been satisfied. That's what I love about this show so much. It doesn't keep you coming back with a gimmick or a cliffhanger, you just love these characters.

100% agree. This show is truly something else and I can't imagine something coming along and being better. Every time I watch this show, I'm transfixed.

The crazy thing to me is that seasons 1-3 are already so, so good but then they elevate everything even higher and just keep getting better and better and then it ends perfectly. Unbelievable.

I would say, for those with an itch for something similar to Mad Men, the Sundance original show Rectify (now on Netflix) is truly incredible and stylistically feels influenced by Mad Men. And for those who haven't seen The Sopranos (on which Weiner wrote for), that show is just as good as Mad Men if not better!

Rectify is a great show. The Sopranos is next up on my list to watch for the first time.

The Sopranos is absolutely incredible. After I finished that show, I became so much more appreciative of my life and loved ones. I'm not sure any work of art has had a more profound effect on me
