11 years today since “The End” aired. I remember turning down a date that night so I could watch it live and ended up feeling so annoyed at how the story wrapped.

Lately I’ve been doing my first full rewatch since 2010, and knowing what happens from episode one, I appreciate the finale a lot more. At the time, I thought it was a cop out that the point of the show turned out to be ‘the friends we made along the way’, but it’s made seeing everything unfold again so much more emotionally resonant for me.

Totally agree. The final season has its problems but the finale itself is pretty darn perfect to me.

Bold take: The finale will keep aging well and in the next five years Lost will be to dramatic television as The Office is to comedy. Its legacy sort of fell off after the finale but I think it’s going to make a comeback. Imperfect as it may be, so is every other show, and no other show has quite done what this show did.

I’ve been a finale defender since it aired but I’ll agree that season six is mostly bad

Lost is a show where I can understand some critiques, but it was very special to me at a certain point in my life and it’s hard to be objective about it.

Finale was whatever. But the series is borderline unwatchable now. Too many episodes. So much filler. Make a 60-70 episode cut of the series and it would probably be much better.

Now that shows have less episodes, it is insane to see how so many were supposed to sustain themselves for 20+ episodes a season.

Most of season six is a noticeable step down but the finale is transcendent. I wouldn’t cut the show down at all tho, gimme all that filler.

the episode count is the only complaint i’ll hear. it’s unbelievable that network tv still pulls that shit. but if lose came out today instead of the early 2000s it’s on a streamer and doing 8 episode seasons and probably the best show ever.

Counterpoint: the sprawl of Lost is what made it so good and what makes it so hard for streaming shows with shorter lengths, no matter how good they may be, to replicate.

I enjoy the lore too damn much to think there are too many episodes of Lost. :shrug2:

Lost was great and holds up on rewatch, even most of the “filler” episodes are so well crafted that it’s hard to imagine Lost without them. I still think that both season 5 and 6 are full of missed opportunities, but the series overall hasn’t lost (intended) a bit of its charm

I tell my friends this all the time but I strongly believe that the only way to successfully put the x-men on screen is through a lost style tv archetype. Each episode focusing on the past/origin of a character while showing a current ongoing storyline with the x-men together.

After my fiancee and I finish the last 11 episodes of The Sopranos, I will be showing her LOST for our summer binge-watch. I just know she is gonna love the suspense, mysteries, cliffhangers, and heartbreaking moments. CANNOT. FUCKING. WAIT.

Already tearing up think of "not Penny's boat" and "see you in another life, brother".

Been trying to convince my wife to watch this with me. It would be my first re-watch since it last aired.

I was about to say that I just re-watched it recently, but then I realized that I watched it with my ex and we broke up like, 8 or 9 years ago, so basically I have lost control of time haha

I really wish there was some conceivable way of getting a 4K HDR version of this show. Revisiting it all again would be extra fun with some visual upgrades.

I recently sold my Blu Ray series box set of this and really starting to regret it. Would love to do a rewatch.
