This must not be my vibe because most of the song sounded like music in a pharmaceutical commercial or something. Really did not like this. Oh well

 

Yea song rocks, I especially love the pre-chorus and the full on "Solar Power" jam out. I could get some people not digging it as much but it's just so bright and lively. And I think more than anything else, this feels like SUCH a good album song. Like it'll slot in perfectly with the album in full context, and I super dig that vibe.

 

Woke up with the "prettier Jesus" line stuck in my head.

I love that the record is gonna basically be a shadow drop next week. Going to be the soundtrack to my summer for sure.

 

that has to be the whitest music video i've seen in a long time, pretty disappointing. song is ok-ish.

Love love loveeeeeee the George Michael vibe all over this! But that’s probably the little gay 80s boy in me talking ha.

This might be my fav single of the summer so far. It’s like her and Jack took Freedom 90 and Faith and then said let’s record this at the beach.

 

Really love the vibe of this song. Really enjoy how she’s reinvented herself for each album cycle. Bring on the tour!

 

I did notice this while watching, although I don't think quite everyone was white in it? But regardless, definitely lacking a bit.

Also that's part of the reason so many people are comparing it to Midsommar lol. At least there you're not supposed to like the white ass group

I definitely don’t think this will be an album comprised of songs entirely about hanging out at the beach lmao

 

i definitely felt some borderline sinister undertones; wasn't sure if it was intentional or just some obliviousness. but the theories here would definitely push this in a direction i'd be much more interested in. like, on one hand, there's a decent case for a summer, sunny, carefree album being something that a lot of people need right now. It also seems kinda strange, though, to steer away from everything that is going on in favour of something so comparatively light.

 

I think the song is just ok, will probably like it more in the context of the album !

yeah it's not the showiest song. I think it's really cool and it's got me really excited for what else she's got though.

 

First off, love the song/vibe and can’t wait for more. This is definitely gonna be the soundtrack to a lot of our summer.

The music theory nerd in me wondered if the song would include a flat 7 chord like all her other lead singles and sure enough it was there a few seconds in. I know it’s a different sonic setting, but musically and even arrangement wise it’s very in line with what fundamentally makes Lorde Lorde imo. I’m glad to see her push the boundary as much as I loved the sound of her first two records.

the moment where she walks past the pollution on the beach really stuck out to me.

 

She is 10000% "messing with us", haha. That video was absolutely satirical and, I assume by the "Cinematic music video universe" comment or whatever, going to get darker as more songs come out.
