I feel like no one ever talks about how badly Antonoff botched St. Vincent.

I would pay money for him never to make an album again.

ironically, I quite like this Lorde record, especially Fallen Fruit

“Mood Ring” is absolutely the most accessible jam on here after four listens. Unfortunately.

the one listen I had of this actually started out extremely positive but before long it started to really drag and felt weirdly exhausting to get through for a breezy easy listening summer vibe record

Lol, I can't believe anyone published this piece. Like, if you're going to write this, at least be honest about it and note that he also produced both Melodrama and Norman Fucking Rockwell, both extremely acclaimed albums that the writer is comparing against.

I also don't think it's totally fair to praise folklore without giving Antonoff at least some props? IMO, he produced the best songs on that record, and helped bring some wistful, late summertime vibes to offset Dessner's autumnal textures. A lot of people complained that folklore and evermore were too similar, but I think they're pretty decidedly different, and I think that's because Taylor and Jack ended up on a different page with what they were writing, and that stuff contrasted really nicely with what Dessner was bringing to the table.

Every time I play through this album I immediately jump to An Overview of Phenomenal Nature by Cassandra Jenkins and wish it was more like that. Obviously not a totally clean/fair comparison, but I guess I just would have expected the "folk" phase from Lorde to be more in that vain in terms of experimentation and progressiveness.

I don’t really care for Melodrama at all. Very accurately titled.

But there’s a few tunes on this new one I really enjoy like The Path, Big Star, Oceanic Feeling

  22. Her first two albums are brilliant (as someone who hadn't listened to Melodrama before this year) and I couldn't make it through Solar Power. Boring, bland and hookless, I have no idea what happened.
