Man, I cannot believe how much I love this record. No way this doesn't end up near the top of my list this year. I want to go see her in Brooklyn so badly.

Idek how to go about picking favorites on this. I pretty much have exclusively listened front-to-back rather than revisiting songs, but Writer in the Dark, Supercut, Louvre, Hard Feelings, Sober, Green Light, and Perfect Places are up there.

I really do not feel like there is a bad song on this - not a single one I feel inclined to skip. Supercut is probably my favorite right now - that little break with just piano and vocals (sounds like the recording cuts away to a room mic or something) just gets me every time. Chills, seriously.

The sober songs are least favorites, but even those are good as hell. I wish loveless was a bit longer tho

Fuck, I love this album. Every song is a movie, a deep and long story that I want to hear over and over. And hearing her explain the creation and meaning behind all those songs in that "Behind the Melodrama" podcast makes the album that much more impactful and meaningful

For me, after the one-two punch of my least favorite tracks Homemade Dynamite and The Louvre, the rest of the album is a home run.

Louvre one of the best songs of this year/all time

Every bit of anything I read from her is so wellspoken. How is she so talented and grounded while being like 5 years younger than me. I had a dream that there was milk in the fridge last night, for fucks sake.

she could write a killer song with the line "last night I dreamt there was milk in the fridge"

The Louvre is one of my all time favorite songs this year.

Megaphone to my chest. Broadcast the boom boom boom and make them all dance to it. Urgh I love it.

The Louvre is pretty good, but it placed right next to Homemade Dynamite and them both having hooks about explosions and booms is an interesting choice of track placement.

Seems pretty intentional. I take Homemade Dynamite as being basically ruining your own life (probably over something stupid) and then the "broadcast the boom boom boom boom" is the follow up that, like now that she's self sabotaged herself, she's going to make a song out of the explosion for us to all dance to.

If this album doesn't create at least 2 massive hits, I no longer understand what the youngsters are into these days. Sober, Homemade Dynamite, Supercut, and Perfect Places should all be huge songs.

I agree that these songs should be huge, but I have a feeling that they are just a little too niche to really take off.

But they need to hurry up and push another single.

That's what I can't decide, but it's also not hard for me to imagine some of these breaking through. I mean it's not really a massive departure from something like Royals. I really think Homemade Dynamite has the chance to really really blow up, but I can't tell if I'm just completely blinded by my own love for the song.

Right?! I love this album and have listened to it so much more than Pure Heroine, but just from asking around, a lot of my friends think it's too "weird" or "not catchy enough." So, the label has an interesting task on their hands. If I were them, I'd start pushing a hazy jam like Homemade Dynamite or even Supercut just in time for the August Hazy Jam period on the radio.

Homemade Dynamite was initially scheduled to be a single the week of the Manchester bombing but they changed it to Perfect Places instead. I wonder if they'll end up giving that song a push a little later.

So happy she got #1. Can you imagine the catharsis Jack is feeling after working on these albums for 2+ years and having them both come out within two weeks of each other?

I hope The Louvre is released as a single. It's not the obvious choice, but I could see it being one of those unconventional songs that gets huge.

I know nothing, but I'd say Homemade Dynamite or Supercut has the best chance to do well on radio (besides Green Light, obviously).

Yes, I agree a late summer push would suit those songs well, and really a lot of this album well. I really think if/when people hear them a few times, the hooks will work their way in. Homemade Dynamite has taken up permanent residence in my head.

That was probably a good move, and that makes sense. Glad to know that one will presumably be pushed at some point.
