Yeah, Oso Oso deserves to be huge. When I saw them "headline" they only played 45 min at a house show lol. I don't dislike Mom Jeans musically but most of their lyrics are a little embarrassing

 

Whenever I see a band name like Mom Jeans my brain can't comprehend a bunch of people getting together and calling themselves that,I don't mean to be shady

 

Yeah, some of the lyrics are pretty bad haha I'm definitely going for Oso Oso mainly. I hope this tour helps them get bigger

 

Probably when I started to listen to Pity Sex or Perfect Pussy or when I came across Fucked Up was when I decided band names don't matter at all

I think it will! All their recent tours have been with a lot of bigger emo/emo adjacent bands but I think this is probably the first time that there isn't a significant overlap of people who probably already know them. Hope the TMP fans are open to them

I think in their case (and Perfect Pussy) it's a political thing referencing objectification and trauma that gets brought up in the lyrics. I remember a few years ago Pity Sex's name started a debate about consent and what that looks like that seemed productive and healthy

One thing that gets me to roll my eyes: bands with Girl in the name that are all male

I think it often comes off as encroaching on space that isn't yrs when you already have all the space in the world, among other things

However maybe it's also pointing out the distinct lack of non dudes in bands and maybe I'm in the wrong here but idk then put a non dude in yr band
