Somehow I still think it's going to ask go unaddressed from here in out and the band will go on with no problems to the world tour and the album will sell. If Kanye can will get a #1 album, the public isn't going to care about this

I don’t know, the LP instagram posts are starting to get flooded with comments. In just 24-48 hours this went from underground rumor to very mainstream.

they certainly cannot do any press because those questions would be top of mind.

they already have a fraction of their fan base that is pissed off that they even tried to replace Chester, let alone with…this.

  12. We can speculate all we want about what it might be like to be in Emily's position right now, but I don't know how you can read everything Cedric and Chrissie have brought forward at this point and not believe them. Especially knowing everything we know about scientology.

I don’t begrudge any fan who wishes this would simply stop. A band that matters to them fumbled this so hard and has completely tainted their return after the most heartbreaking event. I feel for those people.

I have a large problem with those who want to perpetuate the preexisting problem for the sake of having their band back. You can demand a response while also wanting this iteration. They are not mutually exclusive as much as some of their fans think they are.

I feel the worst for the victims who have to deal with this being back in the public eye and see their abuse effectively relitigated. What a fucking nightmare.

Been telling my family about what's been going on and so my brother found a documentary expose about scientology that we started watching tonight and I didn't realize just how big it is, with big buildings with giant scientology signs and dressing in navy-style uniforms. They have a headquarters in Clearwater, or at least my brother says they do.

I guess I don't know what I thought they did. Maybe hang out together in caves with druid robes, I dunno.

Literally just walked by the Scientology HQ in Kansas City today. Just super bizarre.

I wish Cedric and Omar's documentary was already released, I was able to watch it and Cedric dives into his Scientology journey. Would be really great to be able to point people to it who are curious and currently in this whirlwind

  18. I know this is a joke, but I would imagine that not unlike the Westboro Baptist Church, they are unreal levels of litigious

  19. After seeing Cedric and Chrissie’s latest post, I think it’s clear that so much of my agonising over trying to figure out how I feel is me trying to see the best in people and trying to find empathy for Emily and the members of Linkin Park trying to carry on the band’s legacy. But after seeing that, I just can’t believe that the band and their team - they said they signed to a massive agency to help with their comeback - didn’t vet her. Still hired her despite Cedric’s comment from last year and the Tony Ortega article that put her at Danny Masterson’s trial. I still stand by my empathy for people in cults, but this is so fucked up, and im grateful for Cedric bringing to light just how deep it looks like Emily remains in Scientology. I wanted my relationship with the band and their music to stay the same but I don’t think it can. I don’t think I can watch Emily sing Chester’s lyrics about his pain and trauma and separate her beliefs and actions within Scientology. It’s just so sad and I can’t believe the band has fumbled their comeback so badly - this should have been a victorious weekend, and instead it’s clouded by this (rightfully so, it’s just sad)

It’s a real bummer, especially for the Jane Does having to see Emily on a beloved platform in Linkin Park.

But it’s also sad for the many fans who made as much peace as possible with Chester’s passing. It hurts to see that legacy be tarnished with a singer who follows/supports a group that doesn’t believe in psychiatry (or psychology?) and would have also brushed the CSA Chester was a victim of under the rug

At this point it’s a spit in the face clicking on Linkin Park stories only to see promotional work as opposed to a statement addressing the elephant in the room

  21. Sad truth. In the span of two days, I've seen the discourse go from "Linkin WOKE got bought by Disney" to "Cancel Culture is trying to take down Emily!" and I want off this timeline

  22. Most of us believe Cedric and Chrissie but from what I've found out through the fanbase's reaction everywhere else, way too many people remain uninformed on scientology. Hell I've just seen someone claim "it's not like scientology is actually dangerous or anything so why should I care" and... where do you even begin. I naively thought Leah Remini's show from a couple years back had reached a wider audience than I thought.

  23. I’m gonna start Jenna Miscavige Hill’s book tomorrow for another perspective from someone so close to Scientology’s leader. I already know it’s dangerous and have read and seen a lot after Leah Remini’s documentary, but yeah - need a bit more Scientology info in my brain

It's so embarrassing to watch. I fully understand people just not caring about anything other than the music, but it's very weird to see people defend the band as if they could do no wrong. However this turns out, the damage is done to some extent. To replace Chester with someone that has any controversy around them at all is a mis-step.
