My overall thoughts: the album rocks. It's certainly not their best work but it's definitely my favorite release of theirs since Living Things and it puts them on a very positive path for the new era.

My hope is to see them eventually go back to a more experimental sound that is hinted at on "Overflow" but I can't expect that for a comeback album with a new singer after everything they had gone through. Making an album that blends a bunch of their old styles together was the right move.

Also, "Stained" is going to be huge.

You can tell they're just having fun right now. I can totally see them putting out another collection of songs in a year.

 

The scratching from mr Hahn on this is some of his best stuff in some time

They had bad omens and sleep token open who are on the rise and super popular in most places. Hell sleep token is headlining download next year. Could totally see turnstile being an opener

 

no idea, but google tells me Dexter and the Moonrocks, Myles Smith, Royel Otis, Almost Monday and Badflower are all real bands who are charting?

If Mcr wasn’t planing their own tour when lp asked them I think they would have said yes and this would have been the stadium tour that they where thinking about doing before doing arenas instead

 

Badflower is the only one I could see (and they're actually a great band, steve you're a menace).

The rest are all waaaaay too alternative to make sense, especially for this iteration of LP.

Maybe I'll listen to every song on this list I don't know, just to see if there's anything good out there.....

 

I know them because I do radio surveys every week and I'm a voracious consumer of music.

 

Stained is definitely a highlight on my 6th listen through.

 

Stained, Overflow, and Good Things Go all have the potential to be massive hits imo

 

Looks like their Sao Paulo set will be livestreamed

Not making Stained a single would be a HUGE missed opportunity. Probably the catchiest song on the album behind Emptiness Machine IMO

 

per IG, Spiritbox will be opening for them on a few European dates

 

Pvris for North America, which I should’ve known

 

Up to "Heavy is the Crown" and still really like the two singles but "Cut the Bridge" kinda sucks.

 

Could 200% see Bad Omens opening for them

 

So, has the whole "scientology" scandal completely blown over at this point?
