    ignorant question:

if LP doesn’t do record scratching anymore then what does their DJ guy do

Sampling and programming. Also does a lot of standing around from what I've seen

    Assume It's A Bit

He's also a photographer/videographer when he doesn't have anything to do musically. And sometimes he'll just walk off stage for a bit

If Brad wanted to come back and just walk around without even playing an instrument, I’d dig it

Is... is scratching all a DJ does?

I think this is frank with Deftones. Vibes and soundscapes.

Mr. Hahn, DJ Lethal and DJ Kilmore had the huge stoke of luck of being DJs in successful bands that kept them on long after bands stopped using them in a meaningful way. Even Sugar Ray kicked their DJ out when he stopped having a purpose.

Hahn is also a huge part of the creative process in regards to music videos, album art, conceptual pieces, etc. He and Shinoda both went to art school, so they're both really on top of the aesthetic aspect of the band.

I honestly think it’s dope when bands have members who don’t play traditional roles in the band be treated like all the other members.

Where are you getting this? As far as I'm aware, DJ Homicide left in 2010, he wasn't kicked out, and this was around the time most of the rest of the band left anyway.

I think you’re right. I think I’m thinking of another band. Strike that from the record.

I will say Frank from Deftones is a very different story. He’s pretty integral to their sound. Does a lot of consistent work throughout the song. Most notably keeping Steph from falling off the planet. Jk but Frank is great.

  15. Joe is more of a Frank type than the other comparisons thrown in this page, even if it's hard to tell he's part of some of the latter stuff and whether any electronic flourishes you hear is something he came up with or Mike instead. He's also integral to their visuals

I forgot all about that song. It does, indeed, rule; I’d say it’s my pick for their best b-side.
